Switching threads Yup, speed and goals from range at the expense of passing and technical ability is how I understand it. Kinda like a reverse Ward Prowse. Lacks the ball retention of both Davis and Prowse but might be better on the counter.
I've heard this about Armstrong; that he didn't preform that well in Europe - which I assume to be the jump in quality rather than an adversion to the continent - ball retentioning being the issue. Other than that his skill set looks great for us. Lemina can also lose possession also a bit too regularly. This is why I would like to see Romeu retained.
That he had his own song at Celtic tells it`s own story. Think of Saints players who have had their own song, and those who haven`t - there is a reason for it! Damn, I just remembered Lee Barnard. Ok, forget it.
Different to what we already have then? Could blend well with what we already have by complimenting what we have? Sounds something to get excited about to me?
I did post a counter attacking front 4 with him in it earlier in this thread but got shouted down for that too <shrug>
Come on VM I haven’t shouted you down nor has anyone else. We’ve discussed it. What is wrong with discussing and counter commenting. All done politely too. Come on man
This wasnt you necessarily, but I was after I listed my concerns rather than actually discuss address them people just said you haven't watched him enough to have concerns which for me is being shouted down. Ok my formation wasn't shouted down and there was actual discussion on that one although I do find it weird that you would say Sims isn't good enough for not being picked as a starter for a PL side while saying I should get excited by someone who wasn't a starter for a Scottish prem team when they both offer speed and goalscoring as their primary attributes and have had their progress hampered by injury.
I think it's a case of Stuart now being a Saints player. The deed is done, so now we all want to be positive and hope for the best.
I have never said Sims is not good enough. If you re-read my post I say there must be a reason why he wasn’t selected by three managers AND I didn’t understand why not.
Which is effectively the same thing I'm saying about Armstrong. Main difference being I've watched Sims play alot as i try and watch every youth game we stream so know his strengths and weaknesses.
I’m lost VM. I just commented originally that you viewed the Armstrong signing with a slightly negative (or not exciting) tint yet admitted you hadn’t seen him yourself. I don’t quite get how we are now discussing Sims or how that’s related? Very odd switch of topic, but let’s move on anyway.
Sims didn't get selected by us, Armstrong didn't get selected by Rodgers. Less starts than ward Prowse. Similar number of goals I'm just saying if you feel that was about Sims surely you can understand how I feel about Armstrong.
Armstrong was key for them until injury and “contract issues” and no, because you’ve not seen him, so why judge? Have you seen Ely play much?
I've seen Sims play a lot, yes. He was key for our u23's until his injury and was key afterwards. Seriously you 'Judged' Sims in the same was i 'Judged' Armstrong. only i havent told you not to make a first impression. saying he was a key player the season before is fair enough. But saying not to state my first impression was what i was talking about when i said i was shouted down. Thats not having a discussion.
I think there are crossed wires here VM, it’s not making sense to me and I think you’ve put two and two together somewhere. I’ve seen lots of Sims also, but let’s leave it there, yes?
Thats fine. Im sure its you not understanding me because we're basically saying the same things. But just avoid saying 'Why judge' when i say my concerns in the future or i will get annoyed again because all I want is a discussion.
