since santon is gonna cost less than the other two options anybody think we should just stick a cheeky £2m bid in for him again and see if it comes off? if we could shift some dead wood out to free up wages (perch, smith, ranger) then we could afford him then we'd have a more balaced back four with santon playing RB instead of LB.

Nah he was only going to come in as cover, I'd rather play Simpson and Santon tbh.

couldn't hurt to have an actual specialist LB in though if we could get him cheap enough.

He's just signed a new contract at Swansea if I'm not mistaken so the fee would be fairly high.

NUFC to Swansea - £1.25m for Taylor?
Swansea to NUFC - Not enough, please bid more
NUFC - Hmmmm, OK we'll try others for between £5m-£8m instead of paying up to £2m for our original choice!

Since when have this regime ever bought cover, he must have been the original first choice so why start looking at people 3x the cost after the first knockback?

I'd prefer to sign Neil Sika on a long term commentary deal.

I don't get why people keep saying this. He made a name for himself at LB for Inter. His best performances were at LB for Inter. He is clearly comfortable there.

theres not too many examples of truly great left backs that are in fact right footed that immediately spring to mind. surely you'd see him at his very best playing down the right. he may be very good at LB but he'll never likely reach his full potential there. he only made his name there becase that the position he broke into the team in as cover for someone else.

Lahm? I know he's a left footed right back but its the same principle.

Its hardlys the same, its like trying to getting a Toyota Yaris to get you from A to B for £1500 and being told that its not enough, so thinking, **** it, I'll get something a bit flashier and faster instead...If a Yaris is only worth 1500, why pay 2000 when you can get a Focus for 5k?

    I understand your point......but.....

As well as needing a new car (Left back), this missus is woefully inadequate up front (strikers) and quite frankly needs a boob job. If we wanted a Yaris but couldn't get one for £1500, why spend £5k on a Focus, which lets face it, isn't that much better, if it means the new funbags for the missus only end up being 34C's, when if we'd paid up to £2k for the Yaris we'd have enough left for 36DD's and be much more excited on a saturday afternoon when she gets them out!?
