It was a steak restaurant for a while, I used to go ahead of our night games sometimes.

I go to everything I can but it has to be said that things like the Sesh and Freedom Festival were already well established before City of Culture.
We are supposed to be maintaining the City of Culture status for another three years but there is little sign of it.

I always wonder what someone thinks when they come into the City having heard all the buzz and find an attractive place that is virtually a cultural ghost town?
It's the worst thing you can do - build the hype to overcome poor perceptions then fail to deliver.

It is bizarre, they made a song and dance about remaining City of Culture until we hand over the baton in three years and then don't put any events on for the first two-thirds of the year.

How many people in Hull can afford to eat in places like 1884 ?

Because there's better options at the money they were charging.

It was also not very well done, it's on the side of a Marina, but you can't even see it from inside the restaurant (unless you went up on the little mezzanine), I always found the place a bit gloomy. If I wanted to go out for an expensive meal, I'd always pick the Westwood over there.

Went there at lunchtime to cash in an expired gift voucher they had previously said they would honour for 2 months after expiry date.
Cashed in no problem...I thought I may have had a struggle.
Refunded onto bank card no problem.
Spoke to the bald chap who has been on tv and radio....they will open in Hessle shortly.
Problem is that Hull is now a 2 night economy which can not allow this resteraunt to continue...will regroup and open a more low key ..walk in eatery.

    Will it be
Have you great expectations for it? Will it be a tale of two cities?

    https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/arco-hq-move-fruit-market-1722566

A major property deal could see one of Hull's best-known companies move its headquarters into the city's Fruit Market.

Around 600 staff are currently based at safety equipment and supplies firm Arco's HQ in Waverley Street overlooking Castle Street.

But they could soon be on the move to the Fruit Market as part of a proposed deal with the city council.

So, how do Arco qualify as a cultural industry and are Hull City Council just going to start giving land away to suit itself and water down the idea of a Cultural Quarter? Interestingly the Daily Mail wouldn't publish this comment!
