I hear you, wasn't knocking you for it either but the point for me is that Saints haven't been the same full stop and Dusan has always been our best player even when the side have sucked.

 

Surprised this has gone so quiet, I'll be very surprised if this gets over the line.

 

If he still comes here after the apparent Inter interest then this window will be a cracker.

 

The home grown rule might be a motivator...Chelsea currently have three foreign goalkeepers on the books and one is Willy Caballero. Forster seems like a sensible move for a second choice in those circumstances

 

Or Kevin Pietersen, and he's a bit of a dick (great batsman though).

And more importantly, why would you?

 

If they go another year without winning anything I’d think Kane would be seriously considering a move. A player like him needs to be winning titles.

 

I don`t get this Angus Gunn thing either. His dad is Scottish, he`s called Angus and he`s elected to play for England. Clearly not right in the head.
But seriously, McCarthy was faultless when he came in last season, so bringing Gunn in at 15m and not as No1 seems a a bit unbalanced.

 

Agree think this is probably his last year there... carry on scoring at the WC though and someone might move this Summer.

 

It’s almost as if people were allowed to have a holiday during the football holiday season...

I read this as excellent if it happens, as we remove a high wage with a player who is out of favour and seems to have lost something, keeps the new saviour who we’d wondered if he’d go chasing bigger money with only a year of his contract and we have the future covered.

Fans seems to have reacted by somehow finding the negative or a problem in this.

Some people will never be happy unless they can see something to worry about.

Angus was probably born in England*, feels English and possibly wants the chance to play in international tournaments ....explains the first.

Saints probably want a second keeper....remember we had a good one that suddenly hit a bad spell...it can happen.

The question I would ask is why is Gunn willing to come here (if indeed he is)….has he been told that the job as number one is open for grabs or does he see us as a chance for his development.

Texted my son told him Tadic had left, but added the bit about McCarthy and the strong possibilities about Angus and Mo (first name terms now) and all he picked up on was the loss of Tadic. I do get that....I would have liked to have kept Dusan,,,but don't see it as a time for rending of garments. I had hoped that we would see a better season for Tadic under Hughes, but can also see that it might be the time for rebuilding. Tadic isn't a trouble maker, hasn't agitated in public and a move has come along that suits him....and obviously doesn't distress Saints. Sometimes things just come together.

Sometimes it's that...no one can pretend that money doesn't matter....especially if you are in a sport that costs a lot to compete in and doesn't pay well (unless you are at the top). Tennis is a good example of that....can cost a lot initially...much better to be under the GB banner for some.

But can also be about development...again money can come into that.

Greg Rusedski was a different case. His link to us was minimal....his mother was born here whilst the family were on the way to Canada. But he fell in love with a young teenage ball girl (he was also young I hasten to add) and her Dad said she wasn't allowed to up sticks and travel the world so he stayed here. A commentator at the time said that we need to start sending our women out to recruit British sportsmen.

In terms of this goalkeeper situation. We were always going to lose out on the forster situation. We were never going to be able to wave a magic wand to make our commitments all go away and us get a load of money for him. We ****ed up and will have to pay for it. We lose a bit more more money this way but at least we get some potential for our backup with a chance of making some money back later.

Why Gunn wants to come I don't know. Maybe we offer slightly better wages and a slightly higher chance to break through?
