It doesn't exactly look overcrowded generally but that's nothing we didn't already know. Another 6 or so weeks to get in more players, feeling like there's quite a bit to look forward to. I have a feeling Kone and Cattermole may end up staying due to no-one taking them but with legs around them they could form a solid experienced center to the team - if they're up for it.

Catts agent has stated he will never play for us again. We should hold him to it.

I personally wouldn't have much of a problem with Kone sticking around, he's not in the best physical shape and his heart won't really be in it but as far as I know he's been a good boy since the time he tried to leave a while ago and sulked afterwards and if he's got the right players alongside him he could be very useful.

I'd be interested to know what Ross' opinion of him is seeing him with new eyes, whether he looks like he can't be arsed or if he can.

I've no doubt he's looking for a move away I just can't see anyone coming in to pay him the sort of money he'll want so suspect he'll be there at the end of the summer. He's not Rodwell, he'll be at training and make himself available for selection. If he leaves then **** him, I just have a feeling he'll be around next season and playing. He's not a big bonus or loss but eventually he has to re-find his level right?

I would have thought we'll be looking for another settlement if nobody comes in. By the time his contract is up he'll be finished. Whether he ever plays 1st team football again is up to him but he should know that if he's going to **** us about on the give and take aspect we'll hang him out for good.

I think he's probably done now at any level, he's got no pace or strength and even going down to league two his opponents will have the edge in at least one of those areas. I don't think anyone here would be happy for him to be starting for us just based on performances.

I listened to the podcast yesterday and that's not what Donald said - he just said he wanted to play at a higher level but wouldn't leave a penny behind according to his agent (as they haven't spoken to the player - Donald was quite adamant about that too)

Fwiw - I don't want him here this coming season either so this isn't me with my "I love Catts" hat on (i don't any more - we've split up) :)
I may have missed something more recently mind as was in meetings most of yesterday and just listened to the podcast whilst driving between them!

the other thing which I thought was great from the podcast was that Donald was more than willing to not pay players if they refuse to play. He's happy to allow them to rot at this club. About time we had an owner like that - just waiting for Gordon Taylor to come out and say that he's being unfair!!

Yeah too true. Too many agents spouting too much ****e from what Donald said the other day. Also the previous backroom staff offering players, currently earning £3k, a wage of £10k? WTF is that all about - that's why a number of them got the bullet when Donald came in. Can't run a league 1 club on Championship wages!!

Sunderland youngster Bali Mumba will fly out to Portugal with Sunderland's first team for their pre-season training camp after impressing in training this week.

I can’t wait to see him play next season.

Nope, hopefully it will only be the season we sort to but if we don't go up, things need to fall into place quickly.

Off to by my season card now.
