Yes, worth a thread of it’s own. Excellent news, but with the Gunn rumour it would seem Fraser is on his way.
I always felt like this would get done, but this is still very good news. I do not know what happened to Forster last year but he was pretty bad... and seemingly getting worse. I don't know exactly how good McCarthy is, but he seems at a minimum to be competent/average even if we dismiss his form at the end of the season as just a hot streak. And if it wasn't just a hot streak, then we've got a good one. This is one signing that to me honestly is as good as getting a new transfer. As for Forster, I'm puzzled as to why he was so bad and it seems possible that he can get sorted out. I don't have too much of problem with him as a backup GK and some good competition for the starting gig if he can sort himself out. It seems like it might be hard to unload that contract. OTOH, if we can get a halfway decent fee for him and he can go somewhere he is assured of a starting spot, it might be the best thing for both parties. He may be willing to take a pay cut to make that move even, I don't know. But his confidence seemed rather shot so a fresh start for him and an opportunity for us to bring in a young GK on the up. I got nothing against him. If he stays, I'll pull for him. If he leaves, I hope he does well wherever he lands.
Sparky clearly rates him and he is popular with the fans, this was a no brainer and absolutely brilliant news.
Slightly unexpected given how long its taken to sort but great news and a positive sign of intent and that the ship is steady behind the scenes.
