I earn a decent whack and have a decent house, car, etc. I could have earned a lot more by taking a job move to London about 20 years ago, but did not want to bring my kids up in that cesspit. One of the blokes I work with is an absolute workaholic and ended up in his late 40's in charge of the division I am in, turnover is about £24m between about 60 of us. He had his first stroke recently and has had to step down. Ok he is loaded, but as his Mrs has a much better paying job in the City what is the point. He reckons he will be back firing on all guns again soon and will not listen when people tell him it is a warning.

I think you need a good balance between ambition and lifestyle. Once I reached the level I was comfortable at I lost my ambition to a great extent and was more concerned with being their for my kids to guide them as they grew up.

I was in my late 30's when me and the ex split up and I got proper 50/50 residence of my daughter. I turned down many jobs and moves that would have doubled, even trebled my earnings. Don't regret one minute of it (though I do still have a chip on my shoulder re the Family Law Courts). Paid my mortgage off, can take my full pension in a couple of years if I want, virtually debt free AND paid for my daughter's degree and bought her a new car for her graduation.

I live in a little two-bedroomed semi, with my Labrador, right on the doorstep of ace countryside, and I have two holidays a year. I'm recovering from prostate cancer and I thank my lucky stars. Never once , in the last five years, have I said to myself 'But if only I'd taken that job, moved away and left my daughter with her mum'. Had the chance to do just that to NZ 15years ago, but my daughter has always been my priority.

No regrets, none whatsoever. That said, had I been single I think I'd have moved to Oz, NZ or Canada.

Well that wouldn't be hard, Klopp making the midfield cover the defence more, Robertson and Karius coming into the team made a hugh difference to your defence. VvD gave a few goals away <laugh>

At least they had the decency to pull them up for you afterwards.

Can't understand all the hate for Fellaini after his extra two years deal at OT, the manager made the decision to keep him, he's been one of the very few stand out players at Utd since the chosen one was ousted, Fellini has scored vital goals for them in their speciality(cup games)and is their plan B.

The three managers that have followed on in Fergie's size 9's all rate him highly, partly because he's very tall when his hair is dry and partly because he's a game changer for them.
