Jack Rodwell and Sunderland have reached a settlement that will see the 27-year-old leave the club.Rodwell was the only player in the squad not to take a pay cut following the club's relegation from the Premier League, but played a minimal role in the following campaign after telling Chris Coleman he wanted to leave the club. The midfielder turned down the chance to move to the Eredivisie on loan in January but with his wages due to drop this season, his representatives and chairman Stewart Donald have thrashed out a deal. It means the Black Cats will save a significant sum over the coming campaign and Rodwell will seek to pursue other opportunities elsewhere. He has been heavily linked with a move to the MLS.
Not having him around is good news. You have to wonder how much it has cost and if it really has saved any money but I can't see why either side would agree to release those figures so suspect we will be left in the dark on that matter.
I can imagine it was a very large lump sum maybe a bit less than what he would have earned this season in wages. Good riddance.
Can't wait to hear his exit interview about how he was unfairly treated and always did his best despite the club struggling.
Rodwell - who had one year remaining on his deal - leaves Sunderland having won only one match that he started in four years at the club.
I think his gross and undeserved wages together with his self serving lack in interest in acting like a professional committed footballer would have had a demoralizing effect on the other players ... good riddance and no best wishes.

No it's not mate. Official means it's come from the club. Nothing has come from the club as of yet. Just RR playing Billy Big Bollocks again going on like they're some kind of SAFC Offical news breaker. They're just a fanzine who have been linked a bit of news. I'll wait till I've seen it officially before I get excited.
It's only official when it comes from an official source which it 100% has not. Not saying it's incorrect information. I'm saying it's a Fanzine leaking information and the media picking up on it. I'll call it what it is until the club announce.
And Sky only rehash other media outlet's stories. It's likely true as Roker Report have got themselves into a great position to receive information, but they've gone from thinking they're a top rag to suddenly behaving like they are the club and I find that irritating. They're taking ****ing liberties imo. Pushes me more to the like of ALS who are proud as they are, never trying to be something they're not. A Fanzin/blog.
Ok lets wait and see then but ive never ever known the echo or Ssn write a story about something that's been confirmed and be wrong.
It hasn't been confirmed by the club though, That's all I'm saying, which it hasn't. 100%. It's been confirmed by RR(then by the media using RR as their source) who aren't in a position to officially confirm anything. Not saying the info is wrong.
