Certainly can't fault our owners ambition for our "little club" Foxes submit plans for vast £80m training facility please log in to view this image June 27 2018 Plans have been formally submitted for Leicester City’s new £80m training ground. The facility, currently occupied by the Park Hill Golf Club in Charnwood, will provide jobs for 93 people and spread across a vast 264,519 sq ft estate. It will include artificial turf pitches, 30 bedrooms for players, dining facilities, an indoor training pitch, 499-seater spectator stand, a multi-sports hall, parents’ pavilion, a sports turf academy and 9-hole golf course. A planning statement with the application to Charnwood Borough Council reads: “The majority of Premiership and Championship Football Clubs have developed significant venues for training. Over the past 10-15 years, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton and Liverpool have, or are in the process of, developing elite training venues for their First Team and Academies. please log in to view this image “Other Clubs are significantly enhancing existing facilities, typically with more support buildings on what are quite often substantive site areas. The benefits of these facilities is self-evident; providing top quality training and rehabilitation facilities for the top Club and international players which is demonstrated in matchday performances. Out of interest - how do the rest of you feel about your current ownership and ambitions (or lack of it)?
Ambition should never be mocked in my opinion. Fair play to your owners. We’ve seen huge success from our new training facitility already, Kane is obviously the marquee one but the likes of Bentaleb, Mason, Townsend, Winks and Carter-Vickers have all come through in recent years and gone on to play for the first team and make senior international appearances. As for our ambition, I’m really happy, it’s no secret Spurs fans are desperate for silverware but the general movement of this club has been great under Levy. With the new stadium around the corner and an already world class training facility, there’s a lot of hope that something great is on the horizon.
I think you’re talking about youth academy mate. Training facilities are just that, they won’t bring out ability, desire or will to win.
You could argue that a club with really good training facilities may attract the resources (coaches, scouts etc) needed in order to get a good academy structure going, as much as it could attract potential players to the academy. Other than that, your comments stand.
You could also argue that a players have natural ability which cannot be trained in. Training can add to a player technical ability but whether you have a £20 Million facility or a £100 Million facility doesn’t matter one toss.
Very few sportsmen are like that. Most have fair ability and then work bloody hard to go beyond that. A nice summary on this topic I saw decades ago, and it went along the lines of : Natural talent gets you far more quickly to the door marked "success" . But only hard work will enable you to put the key in the lock + turn it + open the door + walk through.
Yeah true, the mentality and ability of a player (young or old) will ultimately determine how far they can go but surely better facilities will help towards that progression? Since we’ve moved to the new facitility there’s been a massive rise in the amount of young players coming through, that’s also partly down to Poch’s willingness to give youth a chance but I still think the advanced centre has definitely helped.
The year we won the title we had arguably the most developed sports science department in the EPL - was very noticeable that, with our smallish squad, we had very few injuries - this new complex is a step up on that and, let's face it, if you are a foreign player coming to the UK and you get taken around that little number versus old and tired ones then, everything else being equal, I think you will be positively swayed ... just my opinion ... and just because I'm generally right, doesn't mean you have to agree with me
Yes they help of course but to say because you’ve toasted an extra £80 Million on better facilities is bollocks. Assuming you still have the same training staff a more modern expensive get up won’t figure.
Says a twat whose religion allows him to cut off an enemies head, **** girls of 13 but can’t eat a ham sandwich.
