Still looking at this guy and City have been advised of his price - 10M Euros. In the current market, that's not a lot for an effective midfield player but his scoring record from there is crap. Would prefer a midfielder that can contribute to the scoresheet unless we can find a 20 goal strker to go with him. http://sportwitness.co.uk/cardiff-c...lan-e10m-asking-price-bundesliga-competition/
Think Smithies is decent enough but Boaz Myhill is available on a free I believe. Think I'd rather save the £4 mill and offer him a year instead. Prem experience and not too costly as back up.
Now then, this is a serious question - would you take a chance on this guy? I've always liked him despite his recent injuries and said City to take him off Klopp on loan along with Grujic last season - I'd have a go now if the price was right........ https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44616059
It's a risk. The question is around how big and for year one, can we afford to take that risk. Gut feel says no.
Ing’s injury record is always to be an issue. On experienced strikers who would have predicted Glenn Murray would have been so instrumental for BHA at PL level? I reckon NW is scouring around looking for one of his ilk.
Etheridge is away for the Asian Cup in January. We need a quality keeper. For me Boaz wouldnt fit the bill. Smithies is a bargain for £4m in my opinion.
Actually Hilts that's a good point. In saying that, I always rated Myhill when he played for Wales but maybe inactivity and a few years may have taken their toll on him and maybe he's not quality enough to stand in for a prolonged time??? I trust Warnock to do what he thinks is right.
Reports saying City have agreed a fee of 10m and he's having a medical today. They ain't gonna happy the other side of the Aaron Ramsey bridge.
I like him and said as much to the Wurzels last season. He's got a sharpness about him that we've lacked in front of goal since the Chopra days. 10 mill seems a lot though, and I'd have thought there'll be more strings attached to that total figure than a Thunderbird's puppet. "Anything can happen in the next half hour".............or was that Stingray?......
Or Captain Scarlet - This is the voice of the Mysterons - I'm not sure. Great when the team were on form but dipped second half although the manager messing around with his position didn't help. All will be revealed!!! Merge into Transfer Rumours thread, and the Alex Smithies thread as well?
10m is about right for the current market. Chopra cost Sunderland, what? 5m back in 2007. Someone who reached a tally of only 3 goals more than Reid did this season. I think the going rate is about right for that now.
