Need Dier for Henderson. Whilst Dier is by no means the finished article, he does give way more protection in midfield than Henderson does. The balance between defence and attack is all wrong (against the better teams).
Scholes reckons Hendersons doing just fine and is a real leader I think Jordan Henderson has done really well. He's had a great couple of game so far. People have said he's a safe option but he's played some good forward passes and been a leader.
Don't see that personally. However the point is he doesn't protect the back 3. We are playing 7 attackers and 3 defenders and a Germany or Spain will rip us to pieces. I say Dier over Henderson, not because Henderson has been poor (although he has), but because he's the wrong type of player to have as your only DM.
I actually think that Dier is an option as the middle of the centre half three. Really because Walker is going to get his arse handed to him as soon as we play anyone decent, Belgium tomorrow for a start. He's not a centre half and shouldn't be playing there. With that in place, three men at centre half should not need 'protection'. Hendersons job is the link between defence and attack, not to protect the defence. Which so far he's done well. Same applies to him though, the quality of opposition is soon to be ramped up so we'll see how well he does then.
He has indeed - the biggest question however in terms of the whole England team is the quality (or lack of it) of the opposition we have faced so far ... and I accept that you can only beat what is in front of you .... but we really haven't been tested yet in the competition - and that bunch of South American canal workers on a Russian stag weekend were really, really, ****e
