Just need refs with a pair for that, it's not exactly hard to spot.

Everybody it seems hates the diving and such and many think that those who do should get punished so that it's stamped out in the game. I'd agree with that. The use of VAR is pretty contentious but I think if used properly it should enhance the game not detract from it. However, the one thing I've noticed is that the use of VAR seems to encourage players to throw themselves down as if shot rather than stop them doing it. My reasoning for saying this is that no player I have seen has been booked for simulation despite VAR being used a load of times and in many cases proving there has been no foul. What seems to have happened is the players know that VAR will have a look at a situation. Maybe just maybe it will look like a touch was made and a penalty will follow. They have nothing to lose because it won't earn them a booking for faking it because the Ref isn't looking for that. All the Ref wants to know is that he hasn't made a mistake in the first place and is relieved when it shows he hasn't. Unless officials use VAR properly then this will probably get worse and worse as time goes on.

I would like it to evolve further so that there are no officials on the pitch. Everything is controlled by 'VARefs' in a separate room with players on the pitch being notified through electric shocks. I'd even be happy for this to be run by Skysports. Martin Tyler, Gary Neville and Chris Kamara to make the decisions <ok>

No... and if they're anything like I've described I don't think I want to <laugh> The thought of a japanese Chris Kamara scares the **** out of me.

There will always be things the ref won't see and that's just life. VAR is doing nothing to help moments of controversy if anything it's adding to them.

I'm starting to like VAR <eek>

It's also bringing some extra drama to the game. I was massively against it, it's growing on me for sure.

I hated the idea of it.

I'm quite enjoying it in all honesty.

It's early days and most of these refs have never used it before, ever.

It's done far better than most expected.

It's just knocked the Germans out ffs! Let's embrace the thing.

The first Korean goal would have been incorrectly ruled out for offside without VAR .... no arguments now <cheers>

Got a horrible feeling we'll go out to a dreadful var decision.

... then it won't be a VAR decision ... it will be an incompetent refereeing one ...

Without VAR the Germans might still be in the competition...

Much rather we have some insurance against 'hand of God' type incidents... far worse to go out to something like that <cheers>
