According to a report, Park's agent has stated that he need to return back to S.Korea for 2 years national service before the age of 30 (he's currently 26). Why are we buying this guy if thats the case?! Also is he any good?
I was under the impression we were matching Lille's bid which was £3m, raising to 5 if he doesn't go on national service. Not sure how likely it is he'd get out of it but it's not as bad as it sounds. No doubt we'd recoup the money in next pre season when we go there
Other rumours say he's only going to cost £1.8m. Also, as the South Korea Captain his marketability in Asia is *HUGE*. The population of the country is over 48m. Even if he costs 5m, I'd expect him to generate that much in shirt sales and increased Asian presence for the club, during his contract and continuing afterwards. They just need one game against a big S. Korean club during the next pre-season and he'll generate loads of money. Likewise with Miyaichi, I'd expect to see Arsenal in both S. Korea and Japan during next summer.
National prestige would take over. if he is a regular in Arsenal's team - they would not pull him out. S.Korea would love the prestige.
Let's worry about 2 years down the road in 2 years, He needs to be good from the off. We have 2 clueless donkeys as back up strikers and if RVP gets injured we are snookered big time. Get him signed and Dempsey also from what I am hearing.
