You are right, i do get a bit pessimistic. I was dubious about some of our signings like Adam and Carroll. Charlie is winning me over, still not sure over Carroll though.

May be i do under estimate us but i like to keep my feet on the ground after the last two seasons that we've had.

I have to say though the best thing i have seen all season, and for many a year, is Kenny's smile at the weekend when Charlie scored. Great stuff.

The report from the Liverpool daily post is that Liverpool have rejected Chelseas offer of Benayoun and £7 million in cash. Chelsea have to come back with a new offer. Its unlikely that Liverpool having rejected Yossi once will accept it if Chelsea offer him again.
If Chelsea don't come back with a new offer that acceptable to Liverpool one that involves possibly a player Liverpool would consider taking ie Sturridge or Kalou, then there may be something in it.

You make a good point there KPR, I can't see them offering another player though as it would seem a bit unfair on their players offering them out in swap deals like trump cards or something.

Meireles did well last year without being amazing

He is a player we could afford to lose if the deal was to OUR benefit, and he is 28

    That would a fee of about £15m,Sturridge + Yossi,or Yossi and £13m

Pretty sure a Mod shouldn't be confirming that. If he wants to use a new name for whatever reason, he's entitled to. Although it's not hard to spot him when every post starts off in the same style

Don't want Meireles going. Still think he is going to be an important part of the squad this season. If Meireles wants to stay and isn't going to try and force his way out, I don't think we should sell him.

    Chris,

Does seem odd... I think we need a Meireles type player more than a Bennayoun. I don't understand why he is up for sale unless he is not happy at having to rotate- which, surely he'd have to do at Chelsea too.

Raul seems more of a player you can play anywhere in midfield- even if he is better in a more attacking role. Bennayoun is more limited to a purely attacking player. We already have Downing, Kuyt, Gerrard, Henderson, Maxi, Suarez, Cole (to loan?), and I'm sure others I have forgot that can play in the same spots as Bennayoun who (most of whom) would be above him in pecking order. Meireles would be competing for those same spots of course- but also can play where Lucas, Adam, and Spearing would be playing- and if we're defending a lead- I'd rather have Raul on than Yossi. When attacking- either man would do.

I don't see the logic of trading Raul for Yossi.

There aren't any rules as to confirming or denying people's multiple accounts. I've seen mods quote ip addresses before, which is wrong - all Bozz and I have done is confirm or deny if someone's account is the same as a former account.

If a Meireles deal invlolves Benayoun then i dont think it will be entertained.

Yossi would be further down the pecking order than what Meireles currently is and he's older. No benefit to us at all. I would rather just have cash for Raul or a different player invloved in the deal.

Raul seems to be highly thought of by fans and i would imagine he would be kept unless its something ridiculous offered, which is unlikely, or he wants away.

Agreed. The way I look at it is the fact that we brought Raul for around £11.5M and now Chelsea are offering us £8M and Benayoun. Benayoun has been injured for the past season and might not recover to the level we knew he had.

    No deal for me.

Yossi Benayoun also took a dig at the club when he left so he is not welcome back like Torres.End of story.<ok>

Did we raise Meireles' wages at the end of last season? I remember him trying to push for one after he was promised by the previous owners, he could easily have his head turned if Chelsea are offering more. Really hope he decides to stay though.

He isn't. Part of the reason it's suggested he would leave is because he was promised a pay rise if his first season went well. He'll be on less than Joe Cole and Aqua, put it that way.

Only sell if they offer a replacement, or maybe a £15million + cost of replacement deal :D

Chelsea sniffing around anfield again - they are supposed to have one of the best midfields around according to their fans but they want to buy a player who isn't even guaranteed a starting spot at liverpool - kenny, tell them to get stuffed

Mereiles was offered a pay-rise if he did well in his first season by Hicks and Gillett. NOT by the new regime. Have you noticed Liverpool aren't paying the same wages to new recruits that they were paying under Hicks and Gillett? Andy Carroll is on £40k less than Torres was on.
I don't know what the figures are, but I'm convinced even though we've signed 6 new players, Kenny has managed to lower the wage bill and this will be proven when Joe Cole and Christian Poulsen are removed from it.
