VAR and absolute joke for a penalty for Iran - farcical handball.

Well taken by the Iranian though - take note Ronaldo <laugh>

He played 7mins and 12 seconds additional time. They put up 6 minutes and then there was nearly three minutes waiting for VAR and other delays during added on time.

A ridiculous decision for the Iran penalty, but the good news is I had 1-1 in the prediction league.

Great games this evening and who was going through in the balance to the end 4 very good teams in that Group. Shame Morocco and Iran have to go home.

Not very impressed with the qualifiers from groups A and B, Uruguay look the most difficult in their stubborn cheaty way.

OK prediction time. England lose to Germany on penalties in the Quarters.

Maybe Ronaldo's yellow should have been a red and maybe not - I watched it several times and I'm undecided except for this - a swing, even if it doesn't connect is violent conduct (in my eyes, anyway) and I think he should have been watching the game from that point onward. and the next 3, as well - too bad that Portugal is so dependent on him.

Either it is a red or there is no card, never a yellow incident. If the ref decides Ronaldo threw a punch then it's a red, if not, no card. Yellow was a joke, cowardly decission.
If you take a look at Ronaldo, he seems to intend something in that situation, he clearly looks towards the player before leaving his arm/fist over the Iranians shoulder/face. No need the go" through" the player, plenty of space to run around him. Imo Ronaldo is a very lucky boy to play the last 16 game.

groups are shaping up nicely now, and after a quick glance, I reckon it's most likely that finishing second in the group would be best for us.

If we win the group, we go into the top half of the draw, which will contain Uruguay and Portugal (definite) and most likely France, Nigeria / Argentina, Brazil, Germany, plus maybe Colombia / Senegal.

Compare that to the bottom half, with Spain, Russia, and prob Denmark, Croatia, Switzerland, Mexico and Japan.

I certainly know what half of that last 16 I'd prefer to be in, playing Senegal, Mexico, Spain/Croatia, before the final. I know it's getting ahead of ourselves, but if the results go as I reckon they may do, there doesn't seem to be any benefit in winning the group.

And with all three subs now used and Australia 2-0 down, there won't be any Luongo.

Dunno - but agree with your last point. It means nobody should come sniffing around.

Over in the Denmark v France game, looks like both are going through with the tournament's first 0-0 draw. Predictable? Surely not...

TBF. It,s not the technology that is the problem. It's the refs. You can give them all the technical help they need but if they are idiots and weak they will still cock it up
