Foreign workers in Taiwan often go to Okinawa to renew their visas. Think I have mentioned it before, but that doesn't detract from the greatness of my fact.

 

I'm going to Taiwan via Japan in September.

I think the thing Okinawa is most famous for is the American soldiers there raping the locals.

 

Yeah the yanks aren't overly welcome there these days. I used to live in Taichung in Taiwan. Used to be an earthquake every couple of weeks and probably still is. How long are you going on holiday for? Asking for Dev.

Not sure yet. Might to the Dev 12 day special. It's cheap for us. Wife's half Japanese/half Taiwanese so we can stay with relatives in both places (apart from Okinawa but it's only a 45 minute flight from Osaka).

Got woken up at 1am last week because she gets an alarm sent to her phone when there's an earthquake back home and there was one in Osaka. Had to phone her family to make sure they were okay - which they were, thankfully. Mad country. **** knows what it#ll be like when the big one finally hits Tokyo. 38 million people crammed into one city.

 

Rugby World Cup there next year,would the in-laws put some some nice lard arsed rugby fans up for a few weeks

 

Can you and your family not find your own accomodation?

 

Maybe, but I'd advise you to lose weight first. Japan isn't really designed for fat people - though I'd quite like to see thousands of overweight rugby fans trying to squeeze onto their trains during the rush hour.

 

I'm alright but there'll be plenty who'll find it tight,did you ever stay in those Pod type hotels?

 

Nah. As I said we usually stay at my wife's house (she actually owns the house in Osaka) or stay in a hotel if we're travelling elsewhere. I think the pods are mostly for drunk Japanese businessmen.

ps You'll love Japan. Nearly all the women like to dress stylishly. You don't see many of them stoating about the place in trackie bottoms wi' fake tans. It's very different from Glasgow.

 

I had a night in Osaka on my way to Australia(flew ANA), shagged bird that I met in a bar, she was filthy. Jap birds are pretty easy imho
