Manager says 2 weeks. Owners say 24 hrs. Who the heck to believe?

I imagine it looks like some decent players getting ready to fight for their places

We may we move along, and I hope we do, but whichever way you look at it Nige hasn’t achieved what he wanted in terms of getting the players he wanted in before pre season

Road trip to Leicester should help though

He was daft saying it in the first place, we where never going to get everyone in before pre season, he just set himself up for questions and unease. We will use loan spots and the decent loan options will not become available until the Prem teams sort their squads out and finish their pre season prep..... Free transfers will wait to explore all options before committing and the kind of transfers we will be unfortunately looking at will probably only become available once they have been replaced by better at current clubs. Sad state of affairs but it's where we are

I agree, but he should have kept it to himself, if he did and we signed a few before pre season then he would have been seen as a positive influence and that he was making changes and of we didn't people would just feel he was being dumped on by the allams again and nobofy would have blamed him.....by stating what he did he just set himself up imo

We’ve got our first ore-season in less than two weeks and don’t currently have s single centre back available.

As for his statement on getting players in early, I suspect it was a mixture of wishful thinking and not appreciating that his boss is a lying ****.

Surely Toral should have been in that list of 5?

All the talent in the world but hasn't put it to good use yet.

I would love for us to have more players in, I've got no doubt Adkins has tried and has put many a player name infront of the powers that be!

I just feel he would have been better keeping quiet.

Don't know if this has been posted, but Weir is injured again, he's out until December. Can see him retiring, another £1m well spent.

Nigel isn’t stupid. He knows we look like we’re in massive trouble. He’s covering his back for future jobs which is a sensible thing to do.

He can say to future employers that he kept us up comfortably when we were in the poo - and then when we lost most of the team at the end of the season, the owners gave him 1 full back before pre-season, despite him being assured he’d get more resources.

I wouldn’t be keeping quiet about that shambles

Has Ehab lost the chequebook down the back of the sofa then?

I don't recall any statement about the size of the transfer budget, the owners have said nothing

Do they think they can get much money in L1 for the club?

Hanging on for the final parachute payment and then not being able to see will be their final misjudgement

That is how it was always going to be, it seems to me getting in Lichaj was a token gesture just to show they are doing something and appease Nigel a little bit. In addition we seem to be offering pretty low wages, so players like Onuoha who are being courted at the moment I likely to wait and see if something better comes along, if not then sign up at a later date. It all points to signings as usual towards the end of the window as you point out, picking up who nobody else wants.

Well they should be thinking did I do enough last season when we just avoided relegation (and the answer in 9/10 players was no) and then they should do their best to avoid not performing well for consecutive seasons.
