Given that Gabbi hardly kicked a ball under Hughes, I'm not expecting him to suddenly start this season as a our first choice striker. Think he may have to earn that first.

My expectation is either Austin, or a new striker, will be leading the line for us. Rightly or wrongly.

I also don't see Sims suddenly jumping ahead of Redmond and JWP in the queue. Or Boufal, if he's still here.

Just like I said to those given alternative view, we can judge him in a Saints shirt. It cuts both ways.

That's simply what I see as a good counter attacking team. Sims is very good on the counter running at defenders. And I think the movement of the other 3 would create a lot of Gabbi sized holes in the defence for him to run into. I doubt that's the team hughes will go with also but I'm not bothering with reality before we've even started preseason.

There has to be a reason why three managers haven’t really used Sims. I don’t know why, but he hasn’t featured under any of them really.

Because he's been injured. And before that he was like 19. He's only just breaking through really. (he turned 21 in march)

I did forget his injury but even so I am surprised he hasn’t been used more.

Didn't he get injured just after the transfer window closed? I'm sure he would have been close to starting last year if he was fit.

I know that it wouldn't have been good for the club financially, but a part of me wouldn't have minded seeing the likes of Sims and Hesketh possibly breaking through and getting a run in the Championship this coming season.

Quite right mate. Reality is over rated, and needn't infringe on our Saints related dreams for at least another 6 weeks <ok>

    Greetings from Kos.

So this Armstrong guy, touted as old fashioned which suggests he is a box-box midfielder. But we’re putting him in the no 10 role?

Also is tadic really off? He improved when Hughes came in (who didn’t?). Don’t care if boufal is off.

    Is bertrand off?

Mark Hughes isn’t on the forum, so nobody here can answer that. Sorry :)

Spoke to my mate again last night and he said Armstrong's best position is #10. I have to agree with the other posters who suggested that he was back-up to Maddison, which would suggest him being bought to fill that role.
