This is bollocks - he was playing in Germany the year before. That’s got to be worse than living in Newcastle. I think he wants to be playing but its shortsighted to think he wont be next year. No team has the same two central midfielders playing. Either Diame will revert to type or Shelvey will be out suspended giving him a chance to kick on. We would be stupid to sell him as he will cost more to replace and I can see him doing big things next season.

His competition is Shelvey, not Diame or Hayden. So you can see why he would think he's not going to get regular football here. Shelvey is a much better player.

He wasn't playing. He was dropped because of personal problems.

How is it that £10M is supposed to be a fair price when every midfield nobody we are linked with is priced at £15-20M?

Especially when they are not even as good as Merino take Cairney as a prime example.

If Rafa allows Merino to be sold, it'll be a true disappointment.
We've had only the keeper incoming. We need a Kenedy and A.N.Other to improve the squad.

A.N.Y. Other won't improve the squad! He'd be good enough for the Mackems mind.

Can't be very good if they are giving him away for a free?

It reads like his agents are pushing for a move. They will have made a decent slice when he moved to us, now they want to move him again for a slice of a bigger transfer! Surely this type of constant movement can't be good for his development as a player.

Do they care as long as they're making a buck?

If he stalls in his career they don't care, just move along to the next up and coming player.....

Yeah sounds like agents pushing the agenda but if we can make a profit on a player who managed a few decent appearances at the beginning of the season and then spent the second half of the season on the injury table why not? Release clause sounds a bit ridiculous. usually they are put in at extravagantly high to put people off not entice them in.

Lad has potential and I'd be sad to see him go along with Mitro and Mbemba - just think that is a quality spine to a side in 3/4 years time.

They're put in high if it is the club inserting them. If you are trying to entice a talented young prospect to come to a relegation threatened club on the far northern edge of nowhere, you will probably have to agree to a fairly low figure being inserted so that the said prospect can bail if it all ends in tears, or if it all turns out well and he captures the eye of someone actually worth playing for
