Care must be taken with the written word on here, but, being English born and bred (regardless of living abroad for most of my adult life) I am feeling happily 'delusional' today, and I have not been on the Wiltshire Tweedy Weed #2 either. Reason? Rugby Union: England finally won a game against South Africa to break a nasty losing run. F1: Good old Lewis! Cricket: Did well there too against Australia. And last but not least, Football: Not bad at all from the lads, very good start, but now the nut-grabbing starts in earnest. However a big well done to this young squad. (Alluding to a previous comment on here, could be quite a fight on for second place in Group G? ).
Man, if they've got a barbecue going with Polish sausages I would certainly gatecrash the 'do' with a token crate of the best beer! Love those Polish sausages barbecued.
The gym i go to we do a circuit class twice a week and 3 Polish girls (who i call the Russians and say they live on cabbage and betroot, all in good humour) do it, i will have to ask them about these polish suasages.
Whilst I am delighted to see the fans of other countries enjoying the World Cup, a bite from the reality sandwich is needed. Whether we finish first or second in our Group, we will be playing a team from Group H. None of the Group H teams look like world beaters, so both us and Belgium will make it to the point where the tournament gets serious. Tomorrow’s tabloids will be full of patriotic bulls**t because we hammered a minnow that has never been in the tournament before. The Belgium game is irrelevant – both of us will beat whoever we meet from Group H and then it gets interesting...
I wouldn't be too confident about Columbia. They looked very fast, physical and lethal on the break against Poland. Some of them were very good technically as well. I know they lost to Japan but I didn't see that game so can only base my view on what I did see
If only the winner was based on Group games, England would win every Champions League and World Cup, its that pesky business end thats holding them back.
both Senegal and Columbia have much better players than England, will be the bet of the tourney if England get one of those two
janthesaint1990??? Bloody hell, what a misnomer! Is this another "1 of the top judges in Europe", we've already got one? Of course, it's Boris Fenster, Glasgow's No1 Chameleon, in yet another guise? Don't worry, Boris, you've got the whole field against little old England and so, "you must get a winner one day"? Hope not, but I am already very proud of the squad and the very fact that they made it to Russia and that they made into the knockout stage, and my mind will not be changed by your sometimes derogatory and snide remarks.
Will be interesting to see what side Gareth puts out. Hopefully he won't tinker too much to apease some of the players egos - thinking that we are out here in Russia and now we be qualified we should get a run out! Doesn't look like that will be the case but you never know! Keep it going England.!And Gareth not too many changes we should keep the winning mentality and look to top the group. I hope we avoid Columbia. Senegal or Japan would do nicely...
Totally agree Captain. 1 or 2 changes maximum. I don’t care if Belgium make wholesome changes, we need to try to keep the momentum going. I’ve enjoyed the tournament so far. Some great games and some surprises. Looking forward to the nitty gritty knockout stage
Japan, Senegal, Colombia in that order would be my preference, though England will beat all 3 of them. Japan i just cant see hurting us anywhere at all, Senegal as an african team are far too naive with game management, Colombia are decent but we should have enough to turm them over. I am debating flying out to Russia for the quarters.
