You know what I mean though.

As another example - Lovren was a child refugee who fled to Germany from Bosnia. He loved Germany and learned to play football there. You could understand if he chose to play for Germany instead of his birth country.

    Shaqiri deal on?
Liverpool could soon announce a £12m deal for Stoke winger Xherdan Shaqiri, according to Ladbrokes

"Shaqiri's performances in Moscow have forced us to cut odds on Liverpool making a shock summer move," said spokesman Alex Apati.

Liverpool are odds-on at 2/7 to buy Shaqiri, who netted a late winner for Switzerland against Serbia on Friday night, this summer.

Premier League rivals Tottenham are next in line to land the winger, with the north London club priced at 5/1.

yeah i think you are right.

He was really put out by real not giving him his favoured utd shirt and since then he's worked on the "brand" of 23.

CR7 blew him out of the water.

He wants glory and he doesn't have an excuse to play for Germany or Brazil.

Same as Owen playing for England instead of Wales. He knew he was more likely to win something with England, despite England being no powerhouse. Same as half of Africa playing for France.

Yeah.. you'd play for Germany or Brazil if you could... Failing that play for the best team you qualify for... Glory hunting.

I'm not sure where this discussion is going?

Surely shaqiri as a 1 year old moving to the country is perfectly right to play for switzerland. He had no option to play for kosovo

This in unlike Xhaka whould could have played for albania as his borther did. that is another unique case

On michael Owee. He was never playing ofr wales any more than giggs was going to play for england. This confusion seems to come up fomr time to time but the reasons for underage/schoolboy level playing for one place and then going to the other is always clear for me and usually its not about where to play for the better team.

4.15pm: Mohamed Salah will NOT be moving to Real Madrid in a swap deal this summer.

That’s according to reports in Spain that say Los Blancos want Gareth Bale to make a move to Anfield in the opposite direction.

But the Wales star has no interest in making a switch to Liverpool and would prefer a transfer to Manchester United or former club Tottenham.

Spanish outlet Don Balon, known for their outlandish transfer claims, say Real Madrid are still desperate to sign Salah.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez wants the Egyptian at the Bernabeu but needed Bale to be part of a swap to lessen the cost of any deal.

The reports claim the transfer would be impossible without Real using a player in exchange for Salah.

Owen was born in Chester so he's English.

The only point I was making - not very well, admittedly - was that Shaqiri seems to have very strong ties to his home nation yet chose to play for Switzerland ... the way he's acted on the pitch, I wonder why he chose Switzerland.

There's no glory hunting with either nation.

Some of the outer parts of the Chester urban areas extend across into Wales. (Flintshire), I was under the impression it was in this Welsh part of Chester where he was born and grew up.
