We're aiming for the top 5 in England, your Russian mafia owners are just aiming to get you back up to the Prem. We're 2nd in the League, you? Sod knows - too far down to stretch my neck.
The only team truly ready for the Premiership is one that's been relegated and immediately bounces back up, and is financially able to weather that year in the Championship without gutting the club. If we make it this year or next, we will be fighting against the current to stay up, as with any new team. If we survive that first couple years, is the club as a whole ready and able to make the commitments necessary to stay and push on to greater things, without undermining the financial foundation? I certainly think so.
The simple answer is, not yet, have patience and wait and see, nice of you to ask, what are your chances of coming up with us?
The funds were set aside from day one for the duration of the five year plan to become established in the Premier League. It is down to Nicola Cortese how those funds are deployed to achieve those ambitions. At this moment in time I would say that we are on course for the plan to come to fruition, everything is in place, from the top right down to the youth level. We have good, loyal support and a fine Stadium, state of the art training practices and facilities, a large, youthful but successful squad, ambitious young Chairman and Manager and a great Academy. All of these things are why pundits like Pompey's own Steve Claridge think that we have a bright future. Portsmouth on the other hand still need massive investment to get to the stage where we are at. Their only asset is a reasonably good (but ageing) first team that will need to be overhauled in the next few years and an old ,decaying Stadium and small support. While we're on the subject of childishly insulting managers, Steve Cotterill looks just like a pikey with that gold chain.
Saints are more than ready for the Championship as the four wins out of five played will show. Next season who knows? When (and not if ) Saints get back to the premier league they are set up so they will be able to compete at that level. On the other hand Poopey seem to be more than set up for their next level assuming they achieve their expectations and finish in the bottom three where they belong.
Well, I don't like to get ahead of myself, so I will suggest that Singing poses his question when it becomes relevant. In the same way that I would only enquire whether he thinks that Pompey would be able to bounce straight back from League 1 shoiuld they go down this season. And in exactly the same spirit. Now, what is his favourite smiley? oh yes,
So, SB3 do Pompey have 'bouncebackability' when they get flushed down to League 1? Or will they bob back to the surface of the Championship like an 'unflushable'?
Your owners say they will, do you believe them? As there is little evidence of any big money deals as yet. We have been trying to improve the quality of our squad, but so far they haven't come up to muster, so we have not splashed the cash. No point in signing people that are no better than what we have already got, and we don't want to rock the boat with a massive overpaid prima donna with an over the top ego and an attitude problem. Incidentally why do you feel the need to be abusive about Nigel Adkins? Wally? I don't think so.
In answer to your question, of course cream always rises to the surface! (but then thinking about it so does scum) Form is temporary Rich , class is permanent!
I'm not sure about permanent class...enduring comedy value certainly. And I think the cream went sour for you a long time ago SB3.
