Anyone else heard rumours that this may be a done deal, hearing whispers from a few random places?

    Vermaelen > Cahill > Mertersacker > Koscielny > Djourour > Me > Miguel > My nan > Squillachi.

Actually, I don't know/think that Mertersacker is better than Koscielny but he'd offer a different dimension. Personally, I was quite excited by the rumours of signing Alex but I guess that's out of the window now.

Just heard this on SNN. What a signing it will be for you, he would slot straight into my Fantasy team.

Not heard anything about this, but I have heard that we will sign at least one player from Everton, possibly 2 over the next two days. Source - one of my customers is Colin Lewin's builder - Don't shoot the messenger, but this is what I heard this morning

It's not so much like that JJSB, though I don't doubt for a minute that your Nan is indeed superior to Squillaci.

Vermaelen & Koscielny are "ball players & fast"
Djourou is meant to be "the height"

Squillaci is kind of a combination, but is in fact useless.

So the only real question is...
    Mertesacker > Djourou?
If yes, bring him in if other options aren't available. Wenger doesn't like clubs going public over transfers, and that seems the reason he's cooled the Cahill interest. Doesn't seem to rate Samba, and hasn't gone for Dann. Thus Mertesacker seems the only real option left.

4 signings; Park, Andre Santos, Mertesacker and Benayoun? Not massive names but atleast it's a few more numbers in the squad!

  13. Yeah that sounds like a plan. Actually I don't feel too bad about having Kos in the team. I think he tries hard but perhaps 1st reserve ;)

Could we be after 2CBs after all I wonder.....:1980_boogie_down:

All 4 of those would be cracking signings for Arsenal.

You've been crying out for someone like Mertesacker for 3 seasons.

Djourou is plain poor also, cannot defend and always out of position or half sleeping on the job. How many years have we been waiting for him to mature and get the mistakes out of him, too long. Song is a massive player for us, without his protection the team seem clueless, he was vital against Udinese the in CL.

At last we may finally do the makeover we've asked for for years.....

  17. Who knows what the final list would be? Things seem to be happening now but why did it have to take so long!!

Ideally I would be more happy if we had 1 striker ( by which I mean in the old centre forward mould, someone who goes out and gets the job done ), 2 midfield, 2 CBs 1 LB. Signing 7 though is probably not the kind of thing our board does or is capable of...

Arsenal are in advanced talks with Werder Bremen's German international defender Per Mertesacker.

The 26-year-old centre-back is captain for the Bundesliga side and reports suggested last week that he wanted to stay at the club.

Arsenal's pursuit of Mertesacker, who is 6ft 6in and has 75 caps for Germany, could end their interest in Bolton defender Gary Cahill.

But the Gunners are set to sign Brazilian left-back Andre Santos.

    More to follow.

thats off bbc website, more to follow is that they trying to piece together more stories to make up a bit more of page
