Who says there were first choices? They're not starting and they didn't start the Tunisia game.

We were interested in Blas Perez when we were in the PL under Phil Brown. His scoring record was amazing then. At 37, it's not too shabby either. Although the level of club he's played for has dropped off as he's got older.

They were then (in my opinion). Southgate has changed it around to diffuse the situation.

The top names were the plans for today’s game not the last with what would have been the changes most would have agreed with.

I don't think he'd change his team and throw away all the planning just to make a media point. He's stuck with Sterling all along so it's not surprising he still starts.

I look forward to Sterling berating De Bruyne in the Belgium game for not setting him up.

He must be doing something right to get so many chances? Man City are a great team but only Aguero got as many as Sterling and he was up front, and the next top scorer was Jesus with 8 less. I don't think you can write off those 18 league goals.

I think he has, but only because it’s Panama & he’d not indicated the team to the players.

Did you see the chance in the last game? I've seen him miss those type of chances a lot.
Would shearer, lineker, Owen, will Keane misss them? No.
    I don't rate him.
    You think what you like.
I dont rate him as a footballer.

Good man management from Southgate once again and pretty sure that if Sterling scores or creates, you will see the teams reaction to their team mate.

Game for calm heads today, in very hot conditions.

We won't be **** if we haven't scored 5 goals in the first 15 minutes.

You must be talking about the chance that was offside Chazz?

He was involved in more goals than Jesus, Silva, the other Silva, De Bruyne all who have been playing at this World Cup, so he's obviously doing something right. Also Sane, who WAS the victim of a media point.

He scored 18 goals in the top flight as a winger. Don't be daft, the lad is talented. I don't think the England team are as good as Man City, so maybe he gets a helping hand. But playing like that in the PL is an obvious sign of a great player.

Good listening to Rio and particularly Frank Lampard Junior. Expecting a good season from Derby with his input.

Can't argue with that but there just has to be more to him. If he had no more to give than he's given to England so far he wouldn't be playing in the Premier League, never mind being one of Man City's best players.

Some good stuff coming out of Rio Ferdinand currently, about the old lump it England style he was encouraged to play, compared to the new England under Southgate.

Perhaps takes time for people to accept change, but this England team will go far.

Don't think Young, Lingard and Sterling should be anywhere near this team, so come on you three, make me look like a chump.

    Come on England!!!
