Danny Fox helped us to get promoted so very much a success for what we paid for him ...£100m+ against £1.5m outlay.

Sounds good, I'm definitely happy to have one of those for £7m. Apparently we were interested a year ago and he signed a 2 year extention? Maybe it was obvious that we would want him again this summer.

Nah wasn't trying to get a bite, I never rated Fox. We could carry him for his delivery in the Championship season because the rest of the team was good, he was terrible apart from set pieces

Fulham might well solve part of that conundrum!

So what happened to the shaqiri rumours? Watching the Switzerland Serbia game, if we do loose tadic (don't want to) then it's about the same money as shaqiris release clause..

100% success rate, I'd argue - Forster did fine in his first two seasons with us.

This cheap Scottish signing is exactly what the board need to ignite season ticket sales.

How do I set my post up to appear in ultra violet?

I hope so, I really do. Davo has been fantastic for us overall but he will always be the player that missed 9/10 chances at goal. If Armstrong can tuck a few more of those chances away then he'll be a welcome addition.

And at his age, no reason why Armstrong can't improve. PL experience may be good for his development. Our team may suit him better than Celtic. None of this is set in stone, so see no reason for despondency yet.

I remember Celtic fans coming on here to tell us that VVD lost concentration in games, was slow, and had the turning circle of an oil tanker.

He turned out to be pretty decent.

There was a rather comical contrast at that time between the worry-free "he isn't that good anyway" comments we were getting here and the "I just don't know how we'll cope without him" posts on their own forums.

I'll also say, they didn't just turn against him now that he's being sold. If you skip through some of this thread from the point where he returned from injury in the fall, the general consensus isn't particularly kind:

Automatically a great signing as he is foreign with an exotic name, even though I've never heard of him....whereas Armstrong is a terrible signing because he has a British name, is from Scotland and I have actually heard of him!

Sign them both up, I am sure they will both be great, and while we are at it, get Armstrong to tap up his former Dundee United team mate Gauld, the kids lost his way a bit at Sporting but would love to see him here, reminded me a bit of Adam Lallana!

For you Fran, to the tune of the Englebert Humperdinck classic “Please release me”

    “Elyounoussi score a goal,
And we will love you evermore,
To waste a chance would be a sin
Elyounoussi please let him score again.
