    Sweden 1 Germany 0. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I doubt it will last once Germany get back to 11 players on the field but sure Cologne might be watching some very sweaty Germans. <laugh>

That was almost 2-0. Neuer to the rescue. Unless things change Germany are going out. Unbelievable for some, but cologne probably would suggest it was possible.

Typically German - probably go and win the whole thing now beating Brazil along the way in the 2nd round.

It's actually the first time the German national team has won from a losing position in a very long time. Sweden did nothing in the second half and deserved what happened, but the table doesn't lie - Mexico are better. At the end of the day it's a 2-1 success against a team of very limited talents - the same amount of technical mistakes later in the competition will be punished. It is possible that Mexico, Germany and Sweden all finish on 6 points here and it all comes down to goal difference - however, I think that Sweden could be murdered by Mexico's speed.

As I understand it Brian, it's goal difference first, then goals scored, then the head to head between the 3 teams - firstly results, then goal difference then goals scored - if everything is equal after that then their position in the fair play league comes into the reckoning - so Germany's red card would be counted against them. I can't see it coming down to that, because I can't see Mexico losing to Sweden.

In this land of corruption, they'd happily take a bung to let Sweden through and Germany out.

What a goal and performance by Kross mind. Wow.

If the Swedish coach gave Seb Larsson more freedom in the play-off game against Italy as it was a must-win game it may be that he'll do that again, so Mexico will have to make sure they pressure him. If he's given the space to play as he has done in club football in England, it could be a difficult game for Mexico

Very true, but look at Vela, Chicharito, Chucky (Lozano) and LayĂșn on the break. Sweden on toast...

    The seconds slowly tick
    The minutes crawl
    The hours drag

Mustn't take a beer to still the nerves. Tooooo early.
Sterling stirs a doubt. But in GS we must trust.
    Scoring goals is a must

Come on England give us a big win.
A goal a piece for Sterling, Rashford and Vardie
A clean sheet for our goalie

The moaners, doubters, critics wait - poisonous pens poised
Let's leave them the frustrated ones today.
Let's leave past devils at bay.

    C'mon three lions
Now is the time to roar <hug>

One thing is clear, if Germany and Sweden both win their last matches then one of the 3 is going out with 6 points and 2 wins to their credit. This seems unfair when other teams in other groups may be going through with less points. Italy once went through to the play off stage based on only 3 points in the group stage - and then won the competition.

The first of three is going well. Aussies restricted to 117 off 17 overs --- but 5 little aussies back in the hutch. Is it a sign?????

    <cheers>

  18. Got to go to church for a confirmation at 2-30 - thank you England as the only reason we'll be sweating in the pews now is the weather :)
