Oh and since we seem to have such a good relationship with Celtic, why don't we use our loyalty points to get Dembele too.
In your words here VM, you have said you are judging him yet you haven’t seen him play. This is where I struggle with the slightly* negative feel on here towards this signing if it happens. You have said you’ll give him a chance which is good, so don’t judge him til he’s had some games in our system and our team. * purposefully worded this gently as I sense people thinking I’m having a pop. I’m not, I just don’t get why the instant thought has to be negative.
My faith in our board is at an all time low. That doesn’t mean I’m going to bemoan any signings or their values until I’ve seen them play and we’ve finished the window. Then we’ll know.
As always I'll judge players purely on what they do in a Saints shirt and I'm relatively happy with signing someone whos been both a long term target and in a position we've needed for a while. Low risk at the price quoted and could end up a steal. I agree with the posters saying they hope it's not our major attacking signing for sure though.
I'm certain Lemina and Hoedt will both turn out to be very good signings. And I haven't given up on Carrillo yet (though I wish we'd signed the Peruvian one)
https://readsouthampton.com/2018/06/23/southampton-scouting-report-stuart-armstrong/ In depth analysis of Stuart....good and bad. Scoring midfielder...not so good defensively. Has played across the MF, but better in central midfield. Suggestion that he may be replacement for Davis, but isn't good enough to be a replacement for Tadic. Lots going for him and at a reasonable price. Nice hair, too.
Maybe it’s just to give us strength in depth? We need good players to cover player injuries and competition for places in the first 11. Worth a punt!
Honestly don't think depth is our problem. It is first eleven quality. However, I am sure this is just a little backup buy with great things still to come!
Without doubt. If this was the case then he intention of sapping money out would be clear. We’ve not signed anyone yet though, so we can have that complaint come the end of the window.
Yes, we need 1st 11 quality, there is no doubt about that. If this guy is our only addition to rhe squad, we're ****ed. But hopefully he won't be.
WGS said that Armstrong had the best International debut he had ever seen when he first selected him for Scotland.
AberdeenSaint Junior played against him a few times in the boys club league in Aberdeen. What I noticed about him (apart from being a really good player), was that he was very mature and didn`t get involved in any of the nonsense that other youngsters did. He just got on with it - no moaning at the ref, no showboating, no verbals with the opposition. Wasn`t as quick as my lad though!
Decent player on his day who will do ok at a middle of the road english club, decent engine, average passing ability, main asset is scoring from midfield, edge of the box belters. Bit of a ****ebag and I think one of those players who needs everything in his life to be rosy or he forgets how to play football, he never really flourished until Brendan Rogers came in and it only really lasted about 6 months of his time at Celtic. Famous for missing chance against Bayern Munich, costing Scotland a win over England, and his song.
