Mexico look really good on the break, fast, but look liable to the odd blunder at the back. Would say they could be in trouble against better teams, but they've already seen off Germany. Some noise from their fans.
Fair enough, it just seems a bit harsh when the attacker is so close that the defender doesn't have time to get his arm or hand out of the way. Also, who deems it that your arm is in a natural position or not? If your jumping or go to ground and your arm is up then it must be in a natural position for the body movement you are undertaking.
The law is vague and open to interpretation. I’d rather they just said “any handball is a penalty” so at least players would know where they stand.
I think the only players who will not concede an accidental handball decision are those that also partake in Irish dancing. please log in to view this image
Me neither. A superb and beautiful player when all around him are on song, but his shoulders are the first to slump in adversity. Against Sweden they need a team where everyone is up for it, could get quite physical in a Northern European as opposed to South American way. Come on you big, blond ****ers!
Me neither, but it'd be nice to dream. Germany starting well and looking a different side already....
That’s a pen surely, push and a trip as he didn’t get the ball. This VAR thing is just as subjective as ref only, but it gives them a dodgy safety net. Better off without it so far.
If you’re referring the one on the Swedish bloke running through with Rudiger I didn’t think that was a pen.
Is obstruction still an offence, if it is what’s the difference between obstruction and shepherding the ball out of play?
Ref clearly didn’t get a call from the VAR, and went with his decision. That aside, more attacking threat and promise so far from Germany than in the entire Mexico game.
I'm Svensk this evening, but 122 German passes to 6 Swedish in the first 10 minutes about reflect their chances of winning. Sweden should have had a pen though ( why no VAR then?) and are getting into the game now with only 10 Germans on the pitch.
