Had a go at draught Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock at Liberty New Jersey Airport, absolute muck, had to wash it down with a pint of surprisingly good Guinness.

Yes mate. We spent a weekend in Bruges last year. Everything seemed to be 7, 8, 9% or more.

I'm a guinness man through and through though JE.

Tried quite a few different beers there but tbh they were just too strong for me. Just not my cup of tea.

Found a great bar there though called Cookies down a back alley. You may know of it.

Anyone going to Bruges has to go there for a beer. And cheese!

    I do love a Leffe.

Like drinking the ruby stuff cold on holiday, the French seem to love it as it's everywhere.
The brun is nice too, not so much the nectar though.

Anyone remember Carffreys? Made you want to kill yourself the morning after!

I used to like the Old Style Bitters they ruined it for me when they all became the flat cask stuff, that little bit of fizz is needed.

I like Caffreys. They sell it in an independent off license near Chez Stan. It’s only 3.8%, why did it make you feel suicidal?!

Caffreys was bloody lovely, very smooth.

A local pub in Sandy, The Queens Head, used to sell it.

But I seem to recall it was around 4.8% - 5.2% and it used to hang around in your head all night with the sole purpose of making the next day an absolute misery for you.

I'm sure I had a weaker version in Ireland last year though, unless my brain's playing tricks on me again.

Out of a can or a bottle?

So they still do a weaker version?

I suppose 10 pints of anything will have an effect. Some beers are worse than others though, Brooklyn lager is a pain for me as I love it but I do seem to have a bit of a hangover after it.

Really? It was definitely stronger out the barrel when it first turned up.

I thought it had stopped being made but I had a can over in Sligo but dont recall the strength, just that it was a pale imitation of what I'd had before.

    Why do breweries do that?

Dunno, was one the first cream flow style beers so probably loaded with chemicals.

I thought it was stronger back then?

Carling put a rival out, carling smooth or draught? That was a head **** too.

    It did, yeah!

I used to get hungover even as I was still drinking it.
