Not quite direct from Targett - more like indirectly, via the confused website of a West London daily.

 

We'll sell Bertrand because he (apparently) wants to leave.

Two days later we'll sell Targett, because the offer was too good to turn.

Five days later, we'll announce Erik Pieters for £1.5m.

 

I mean, it's a direct quote, with quotation marks and everything. The Echo posted the same, with no pushback from the club.

I guess we'll have to add Targett to the vast conspiracy of players, journalists, and actual employees of the club working to make our club look incompetent.

 

Pretty sure there was direct quotes at the time.

 

I expect he's had contact with the club since then though.

Take a quote out of context, distort it's significance to back an agenda. The press never do that, do they?

 

Which is why Targett pushed back after his quote was seriously distorted, and the club issued a statement to the Echo after it had republished Targett's quote, clarifying the journalistic malfeasance that had befallen them. Wait, neither of those things happened?

 

I've no idea, mate.

An awful lot of things seem to happen in your head that do not happen in mine. In the meantime, I guess we'll see how this one pans out in reality.

I'll rush to judgement after something concrete actually happens.

Reading some Celtic boards, the majority opinion seems to be that Armstrong was rather poor last year, and will have the sort of impact in England that Gary Hooper did. My whelms have gone under.

They also believe it's 7m + add-ons.

 

I just asked a Scottish friend of mine about him and he said he thinks he is decent, but unsure if he is good enough to step up to the top half of the PL. I reminded him he was joining Saints so that didn't matter
