I'm back to defend the comments I made in the opening post as the replies that have been posted suggest I am a WUM/Cardiff fan who is taking the p***. First and foremost, I accept that many regard this post as rather pathetic, and I do realise we are early in the season but I just feel we have made a disappointing start given the fact that the last two home games were certainly winnable and we did enough to win them. Moreover, I sort of used this post as a means to vent my frustration at the inability to take our chances in the first two home games of the season. I AM a Swansea fan, and am not a Cardiff fan. Those of you who remember me from 606 will know that I posted regularly on the Swansea forum, but due to starting a new job, having recently graduated from uni, I have not had as much time to post on this board. I want Cardiff to do well because it's good for Welsh football, in the same way I hope for Wrexham and Newport to do well, but my heart lies with Swansea. Secondly, to Swimaway: You believe you have detected some "Freudian slip" in my opening post, since I refer to "your" on a couple of occasions. Well if you re-read the opening post, you will notice that I use "your" and "you" when I am making general remarks. ANY team that can not score will not win a game, and hence I used "your". You will also notice that your interpretation of my use of you would imply that I believe Vorm is the best keeper in the world, and whilst he is very good he is certainly not the best in the world. When I refer to Swansea in particular I use "our" or "we". Thirdly, most of you who remember me from 606 will know I take a more pessimistic approach to Swansea. And if you read my post carefully, I am simply stating the importance of getting our goalscoring ability sorted. If you look at the PL, we need 40 points to survive. That is effectively 11 wins and 7 draws. Most of those wins will have to come at the Liberty, and assuming the difficulty of playing the likes of Arsenal, Man U and C, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea at the Liberty, that leaves us with just 13 winnable home games of which we have drawn two. I am just pointing out the fact that these are the home games that we must win if we are to survive. Anyway, I get people will not like me due to my, in many people's eyes, irrational views and I doubt I will make any friends on this board. I don't mind people disagreeing with me and thinking I am being irrational, or I am being pessimistic, or I am jumping to early conclusions etc, but I just felt the need to respond to the view of many posters that I am not a true Swans fan and that I am a WUM, for I have never posted a WUM message in my life Due to work, and the evident replies which suggest that I ought to go away, I won't be posting here very regularly. When I do make an odd post, I'll make sure it's positive, so I will only post to congratulate the team/say anything positive. And by the way I would take a 0-0 draw at the Emirates and Stamford Bridge as very good results.
I have only seen the highlights, but I thought the Swans were unlucky yesterday, OK you got nothing at Man City........not many teams will, it was always going to be a big step up for all the newly promoted teams, but you have a good manager and intelligent players who will adapt, I hope you will be OK, and I think there are going to be 3 or 4 worse teams in the PL than the Swans, I don't know the OP, and whilst a cutting edge at PL level must be a worry, I think there is enough quality elsewhere in your side to keep you up, and I can't believe the negativity from a Swans "fan"..........realism is one thing, negativity another,,,,,,for what it's worth I think you will stay up, it is going to be a hard tough battle, but the more realistic Swans fans realised you weren't going to set the PL on fire..............bottom half finish, but not relegated is my genuine opinion, not a WUM I hope you survive this season, then kick on over the next couple of seasons
I understand if that's your viewpoint, but if you're going to post something this negative could you not at least acknowledge that there's a flip side to every argument, whereby if we start scoring goals, and keep playing as we are, we'll probably be alright? I really don't get why people are so quick to be negative. Life is so much more fun when you're happy, it seems some people are happier bitching unfortunately.
Not Optimistic not pessimistic but realistic...if we can avoid relegation and finish where we are now 15th then we will have done better than 90% of teams that have gone up and i'll willingly settle for that..as far as the negativity goes we will always have fans like that no matter how well we do ...we had the same attitude last year after getting pomotion..so what chance is there of it changing this year..in short ..none..and if we finish outside a champions league place ..there will be a few amongst us who will want Buck's head on a plate..and they still wont be satisfied
Well, Wally I do remember you from 606 and your posts were almost always universally negative then too. Nobody is suggesting that only positive posts are put up but criticism when it's due should be the way to go. If you are indeed a Swans fan (which I seriously doubt) then to post 'We will be relegated' after 3 games is nothing short of a disgrace. Not even Dainumpty is that negative. I suggest you keep your promise and don't post too often. I hope to god the players didn't read this tosh.
Wal1000. Your doom laden headline,"we are going to be relegated" was never going to win you any friends here, and, after only three games, was a trifle premature. You are,of course, entitled to your opinion, and have a right to express it. This is,after all,a debating forum,or supposed to be,anyway. In retrospect, and isn't hindsight grand, you would have been wiser, and now less bloodied,to have toned down your categoric headline, into a more enquiring one. No realistic Swansea City fan can see anything other than a backs to the wall struggle this season, and having one of our own,as I'm sure you are, make such a positive statement of forthcoming failure, doesn't go down very well,at the moment. So,why not wait awhile,a couple of months maybe, see where we are,and then come back with a more informed viewpoint. I think your reception will be somewhat different then. We'll ALL be more informed by then. Spurs' 1 Man City 5. This puts Spurs' in last place. So it can always be worse.
i was impressed with the way we played yesterday and even danny had a far better game, He will score soon that you can bet on and when he does he will score on a regular basis. we have not disgraced ourselves in any of our premiership games so far and even the man city game we done well when you consider the way they have destroyed more seasoned premiership sides, If we only had the run of the green and those near miss shots had gone in then we would have been further up the league.....on the balance with the way we have played so far then we are certainly not the worse club in the league and will stay up this season. we are certainly not relegation fodder there are worse teams than us......KTF we will be fine
WALL.E what do you think of the Man City v Spurs 5-1, result?? Silence is golden aye, be pleased to hear your sound bites mate! Vetch well said................. please log in to view this image
Arsenal concede 8, Spurs concede 5 at home, Blue Prophet gives us some praise and Dai doesn't slate off HJ. What is going on lads?
Now could be a good time to play the mighty Arsenal while thier still smarting from todays beating id 8 2 see us beaten that heavily ! do you think we have a good chance at the emirate ?
We've played Manchester City ( one of the biggest club spenders in the world ) our first game & were right there with them for 60 minutes . We played the only team , EVER , in Great Britain to not be relegated from top tier & got a draw our 2nd game & finally played 90 minutes of football against Sunderland & got a draw . We've spend little & are playing more confident than some teams that sold the farm in the transfer market . Our left back played for Wrexham a year ago & we replaced Pratley with a player ( Augustien ) that was loaned out when we were in the Championship last season . October & December is where we have to worry if we don't get reasonable points , not until !!
cracker.... man city were relegated down to div 3 a few years ago, you are thinking of Arsenal who have never been relegated out of the top flight...
Arsenal might be the only team to get relegated & not earn there promotion back to tier 1 .. agent 99 . They were relegated in the 1912 - 1913 season or in around there . They finished out of promotion the next season & finished 5th the next season , the last season before the great war . When the league started back up again after the war , Arsenal , dubiously , ended up in top tier ahead of Barnsley & another team , that eludes me at the moment , even though both finished ahead of Arsenal in tier 2 but were held back with cries of bribes echoing through the Leagues . The following season, the Southern League became Division 3 with all Southern League teams belonging to it except for 1 ... Cardiff were invited to bump up a league ahead of the other teams , holy echo Batman lol !!
yes you probably will be relegated i think everton are the only team never to be relegated from the top league
Everton were relegated in 1931, then promoted the next year. They were relegated again in 1951 and promoted in 1954
