Good Morning Everyone Leeds have lost interest in Kyle Bartley! The 27 yo centre back was our number 1 Summer target some weeks ago, but since the appointment of Bielsa, Leeds have completely lost interest in him. Mistake or not? According to a reliable source Leeds have been offered both Spurs central defender Juan Foyth and Citeh's 18 yo midfield sensation Phil Foden. We spoke about the Argentine central defender earlier in the week, whilst Foden is an England U18 international and BBC young sports personality of the year. Millwall manager Neil Harris says he cannot wait to pit his wits against new Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa next season. “He [Bielsa] is a very high-profile manager at club and international level,” said the Millwall chief. “He has a phenomenal CV. I really look forward to locking horns over the course of the season and meeting him, hopefully for a drink, after the game. “It just shows the ability these huge clubs have at this level in attracting top people with experience. “It is a foreign manager coming in again, he’ll have to adapt to Championship football – that’s his challenge. I’m sure if he is coming he will want to bring some brand new players with him – I don’t think it will be cheap. “Leeds are certainly looking to move forward. We have seen Nottingham Forest spend £13 million on one player and Stoke – £10.5 million rising – for Benik Afobe from Wolves. “So as soon as we start getting above ourselves, we just have to look at things like that. It is a reality check for us, that we are fighting with those clubs at the moment. “It is a challenge we rose to last year and I fully expect us to do the same next year.” Leeds have been linked to Chelsea’s Marco Van Ginkel The 25-year-old midfielder officially signed for Chelsea in 2013, but he has made just 4 senior appearances during a 5-year stint which has seen him spend the majority of his career on loan. His most recent spell was with PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie, and it’s fair to say he was a resounding success during his 18 month loan deal.
Good morning Matt and co from aa sunny Bardsey where we wait to see who we play at home in our first game /.My bet is that it will be televised on Friday 3 August Seems Vydra was at Thorpe Arch yesterday a car registered with his surname was photoed leaving the centre So its all happening and lets hope 5 signings come through the door soon I thought Afobe was bought by Wolves for £10m and then loaned to Stoke the most bizarre transfer on record for me I said recently that Bartley is too injury prone and should be left alone so no surprise there and Van Gringle has only played 5 times in 5 years for Chelsea Finally Gunn or Stockdale?
morning all. First things first it would be nice to see the new coach he was supposed to arrive earlier in the week.
Morning all... Bartley and Hernandez, would we have had both or either had we not signed Bielsa? Are they both injury prone gambles? If Bielsa has said they don’t fit into his plans then I am glad we have shut the door on them, it really will be a corner turned and a true sign that change is happening with Orta working to bring in Bielsa targets.
I think playing relegated sides early is often a good thing. It can take them a while to shake the losing habit... or in Sunderland’s case last year quite a while
Good morning all. Bloody ell, that is a right old line up of tough fixtures to get us started,if were in the top six after those games i for one would be well pleased with our start.I to am wondering when Bielsa will make his first appearance & press conference at Leeds, looking forward to that, also pleased that Bartley looks as though he's not coming,as we do not need any injury prone passengers or otherwise,Hope those rumours are true about Vydra,C'mon LS11 give us some confirmed news,on well just about everything.
Morning all I'm sure Harris will be equally excited they have beaten us to a first major signing, Wallace from Scunthorpe
Fantastic opening fixture at home against Stoke. Live on Sky with a 4-30pm KO on Sunday 5th August. If there was ever a chance to set down a marker for the coming season then this is it. Now let's get some players otherwise we are going to get stuffed.
Good morning Matt & all Blimey have EFL rigged this fixture list Fantastic start to the season v Stoke City at what will be a full house at ER Fixtures not panned out as I hoped : Swansea on a Wednesday night in August, was hoping for the 1st Sept as we're at a wedding in Shrewsbury on the Friday. Three long journeys in three weeks during August/September Hull is a local evening game so I'll have to grab a lift with my Hull City mates as there are no trains back home after 9.40pm Forest away falls on Mrs 64's birthday Reading away on a Tuesday night in March Brentford on Easter Monday which is bound to be switched to a 12.30pm kick-off or an evening game Last game of the season on a Sunday 12.30pm at Ipswich, a real early start for that one, at least it's in May
One player I forgot about is Lewie Coyle. It will be interesting to see how he's improved. Was Fleetwood Towns player of the year last season.
