Maybe two as Sims is sat on the bench waiting for a better chance to show his metal.
I am prepared for a good number of departures as we clear out our squad after last seasons disaster but would feel more comfortable if we could see greater activity in bringing in better quality replacements

The club definitely know how to entice people to renew their season tickets? I still have strong suspicions that their are major problems behind the scenes, and haven’t been sorted even after escaping by a knats bollock last season.
My season ticket renewal money is staying firmly in my pocket for now.
So come onLes and Mr GAO, make me believe again. Have heard that season ticket sales are considerably down at present?

 

FFS surely not. Tadic is one of our best players. I suupose i should be used to us finding a way of selling the crown jewells by now. We march on alright. Still he is 30.....time to cash in

 

I think moving him on is good business, I don’t think he is that good, in terms of I have a feeling we will be happy with what comes in to replace. moving above 30 with 2 years left it makes sense also.

Hughes wouldn’t have joined if he knew players he wanted would be moved on and not adequately replaced. He is not backward in coming forward.

 

Renewed my tickets the latest I ever have done because of how disorganised we appear to be but couldn’t bring myself not to renew.

As people have said above, we’ve gone from being one of the best organised, most proactive pursuers of talent to a reactive mess with no strategy

 

Think most would have agreed at the end of last season that we needed a good clear out? I have no problem with this, though you would think that if this was the case, a signing or 2 would have happened before we start selling? If Tadic and as rumoured, Boufal are to leave, that could possibly mean we will need to sign 3 attacking players? Oh well, only time will tell. But can someone remind LR that the transfer window shuts 3 weeks earlier this summer.

 

I can't see any positive in losing our only really creative player at all...

 

Heh, we needed a good clearout, not to clear out the good. It's the players who no longer offer terribly much that need shifting.

 

Think it’ll be very difficult to replace him for £15m...also just adds another player that we need to find, bring in and hope works out here. This will probably just end up bring smokescreen for the players that we needed to add to the squad. We needed another winger and attacking midfielder anyway. Now we’ll probably just sell Tadic and buy in a replacement and try and spin that as improvement.

 

A big majority on here have slagged of Tadic’s performances regularly in the past 2 seasons. Though I thought he was one of our best players once Hughes came in?

 

Many did slag his performance, and indeed, his performances were often wanting. The problem was that even bad-Tadic played out of position was generally deserving of a spot on the team sheet, because the rest of our options were by and large worse.

 

Tadic has always been one of my favourite players despite the ‘sniper in the crowd’ theatricals. But he has taken a lot of abuse from fans these last two seasons so no surprise to see him moving on. It was not unexpected if you read the rumours from around February onward. The fans whining now are probably the same ones who wanted him
Kicked out 18 months ago so little point in blaming the club for him wanting away and being sold.

 

Wait...what. It’s the fans fault Tadic wants to go. That can’t be what you mean. Despite his below par performances he was still a fan favourite and his name probably got chanted more than anyone else’s. If he wants to leave it’s because he’s been here 4 years now and wants a fresh challenge with a club that actually have ambition. I wanted him out of the starting lineup when he was playing poorly and not putting in a shift, not sold. Again though, he’s served us well and if we replace him with a talented player AND add the other attacking players we need than I don’t think too many will complain. It’s that the past has shown us that this is unlikely to happen that people are getting frustrated about I think. It’s been a while since we’ve sold our best players and replaced them with quality and depth.

 

If tadic is going that explains the signings we've been trying to make in AM a bit better. I had thought they were bit similar to what we already in that they had technical attributes rather than the pace and power we've been lacking as a squad but if tadic is going then a more direct replacement makes sense.

 

Don't trust our decision making when it comes to signings, so definitely don't want to see Tad go.
Rather stick than twist at this stage.

 

Unless Tadic is literally begging to leave to try a new challenge I don't get this one bit...

 

No matter what way you look at it, if that release clause is true then it's a ****ing farce and yet another thing that has been an utter failure by the board in the recent years.

 

Correct. That’s not what I meant and I agree with the rest of your post. Just getting pissed off with Saints fans (not you but particularly on Twitter ) who have got into a rut and complain about the club not knowing what they are doing at every occasion. I can handle it when there’s a combination of positive and negative comments but when it’s all negative, you have to wonder why they even bother following Saints.
