That was ****. Good win so happy days, but....

So many underperforming players. Lingaard, Sterling, Alli.

I have to agree with all the pundits, Hendo controlled the midfield and although passing sideways too often he looked like the only player willing to try a quick forward ball, why was no-one else trying this ffs? Everyone was far too slow. Kane did well so fair play, quiet game but you can't ignore the 2 goals. Thought Stones was very good. Maguire was ****ing ****e, making runs but then forgetting where he is and what he's doing.. wtf is that about?

Pickford had one of best ever games as in he didn't let a goal in. Rare for him.

All last night showed was a proper team would tear us apart.

Also, Sterling <laugh> needs players like KDB and Suarez around him to make him look good.

The only good thing about Lingaard is his bird.

RLC in for Alli against Panama imo. We need his strength. Too many fannys on the pitch.

<laugh> Your Pool v Manc bias on full show there Sky

Lingaard did alright for me. Okay his finishing wasn't great, but at least he was getting into the right positions, still looked dangerous and I think he'll do well in this comp.

Henderson was okay, but he slows the game down far too much for me. Too much sideways and backwards passing when we need to be incisive. I'd keep him in there, but he needs to be told to speed the game up a bit more, better teams will overrun us in MF if Hendo dithers on the ball too much.

Alli was **** last night, but apparently he was carrying a knock. In which case Southgate should have rested him.

Alli gets another chance imo, but if he's **** against Panama then he should be hooked for the Belguim game.

Some of it was on purpose.

Imagine Dier in there if you think Hendo was slow.

The problem is he's looking for movement and there wasn't any. For Liverpool he'd have Salah or Mane making those runs and he pings it in to them all day. You can see him looking up but rarely there is movement- he can't pass to someone that isn't there. He's clearly the leader on the pitch, barking orders etc.

    Haters gwan hate.

All 3 pundits last night fully agreed though.

I thought we played really well for the first 25 minutes and really should have been a few up if it wasn't for some woeful finishing.

Walker showed why he isn't the best defender.

Then heads dropped as they sat deep and we became incredibly slow and predictable and were just not gambling on the second ball.

    No movement.

Then Rashford came on and although he really should have buried one he at least looked lively.

RLC looked excellent when he came on.

    That winner though!

What a different complexion this morning!

Great finish by Kane and knock on by Maguire.

    Get in!

He should be rested for Panama imo. He's a better player than RLC but I think we need his strength in there.

Alli back for Belgium fully fit.

I’d agree with Piskie, Henderson was sideways all night long and slowed down a few promising moves.

For me, gotta goes are Sterling, Young ( seriously, wtf? ) and maybe Henderson if we want to speed things up.

There’s no room for injured players and if Dele is carrying one he should be benched

    And Walker is no CB

Nothing to do with hating on him bro. I'm supporting all the players whilst they wear the shirt. Just don't think he was that dynamic to be honest.

Players like Lingaard and Sterling were making runs, but Hendo just kept slowing the game down passing sideways, which then allows the oppo to regroup and you end up with a congested final third with no space to get in behind.

Trust me, I've watched this **** go on at Arsenal for the last few years. Hendo just needs to move the ball a bit quicker and get his forward passes off sooner. Doesn't matter if they don't all come off, as long as he's looking for the ball in behind <ok>

It's Hendo or Dier in this system though. You can't put Dier in and expect to speed things up? Dier will play ehen we need to be more compact or slow the game down.

You can clearly see Henderson looking for the quick ball when be receives it.... if no one is making the runs he can't pass it. Imagine the **** he'd get if he must pinged balls to the corner flag when no one's there.

Rashford or Vardy would make those runs.

Yeah I agree to a certain extent. Just makes me laugh that people constantly hate on him when all the pundits even thought he was good.

The whole team were far too slow so it's hard picking out individual's. Except Sterling as he was proper ****.

Dier is the better passer of the ball. And would speed things up. I’d agree to an extent on who’s playing further forward.

I’ve already suggested a front three of Vardy, Kane, and Rashford. With Dele ( if fit) and Lingard behind. Maybe too risky against Belgium, but would cause many teams problems

Pickford: didn't do a lot wrong and nearly saved the penalty - 6.

Walker: positioning all wrong and gave them something to defend which almost cost us the win - 5

Stones: didn't do a lot wrong and looked assured on the ball - 7

Maguire: looked great both defensively and offensively, assist - 8

Henderson: one lovely cross field pass, otherwise same old solid - 6.5

Trippier: looked good. Good distribution, work rate and attitude - 7.5

Lingard: got himself into good positions and unlucky with post, missed a few: 6.5

Alli: did nothing of note and was largely anonymous - 5.5

Young: general play average plus dog freekick - 5.5.

Sterling: really bang average, in fact worse - 5.5

Kane: quiet for spells but scores goals. Really important ones! 8.5

    Subs

Rashford: needs to learn when to be greedy, should have scored but did look good - 6.5
Loftus-cheak: looked very lively when he came on, looks good - 7

Disagree on Dele. He had a good first half, but faded. Probably carrying the knock that’s been mentioned

He did appear to have a knock, that's true.

Not sure why Southgate kept him on.

Dunno. But he kept Sterling on for about an hour too long.

Seriously, he has to be careful of affecting a player’s confidence.

Think I would start Rashford next time and bring Sterling on last 20/30.
