tbh I don't know his stats for England but I thought he isn't the same for country as he is for club.
Sterling post-match interview "I think my performance tonight was affected by concussion...." Once a scouser....
Mate seriously. Just because people who stand within 10 yards of him get damp when he speaks, this is no reason to knock his achievements for England tonight.
nah not at all....... The days of the prima donna rivalry amongst the the squad is not evident with Southgate at the helm....... a breath of fresh air imo and long may it continue.
tbf the prima donna England players always backed each other. To criticise each other was to shine a spotlight on everyone including themselves. They were just under too much pressure from the expectation of fans. That's the only difference between them and this squad in terms of mentality. And I'm not being funny but if Sven did half the PR stuff Southgate is up to at the moment, the press would be all over him.
...his stats aren't at all bad, given that he is usually a sub ... but the most impressive thing is who he scores against (rather similar to the EPL) ... Germany, Holland, Spain and Italy ...
Kyle Walker at CB is the concern for me..I think he will get twisted all game by the better teams. I'd have Cahill in there instead.
I've said before that I'd like to see something similar playing n against the bigger sides and especially Belgium. Under Martinez they'll be suspect defensively particularly on the break. We haven't got the midfielders and centre backs to go toe to toe with and dominate games against the best teams but we've certainly got the pace and talent to cause any side problems on the break.
Then the whole team would have to play ten yards deeper to accommodate Cahill’s lack of pace. I like the balance those three offer. Blockhead Maguire can do a job on a big tart like Lukaku.
Trippier did really well last night. He was dangerous when he came forward and I really liked his energy too, he wanted to get on with the game and force the issue, that's exactly the sort of commitment needed at this level. Don't care for all this 'spurs' v 'other players' nonsense tbh. It's all a little bit insecure and unnecessary. This is England, the lads are playing with the three lions on their chest and we should be backing them all equally
