The thIng is, with the loss to Mexico, it sets up a very possible round of 16 matchup of Germany-Brazil. That can only be good for the rest of the field.

they were playing mexci owho could have put 4 or 5 past them had they a decent set of forwards.

had it been LFC playing them I would have been disappointed we didn't gekae them apart for example.

seriously while they have pedigree I am questioning their legs. they should all be in their absolute prime right now but they got absolute chased off the park.

If mexico beat sweden as i would expect them to do having seen mexico. then they only need a point of s korea and germany can do nothing to stop it happening.

Right, I feel Mexico is capable of taking by the 4 pts needed to top this group. If anything, Brazil not getting all 3 pts lessen the odds of it happening, but would be great for Brazil to top their group and face Germany straight away in the round of 16.

I'm not convinced that Germany or Brazil are really the best out there after watching them. Maybe they both had bad games but neither look like champions yet.

Early days though. Either team can still start playing better.

I agree though after one game at least. Of the 4 favourites, Germany looked the worst for the longest stretch(es). Brazil had a great half followed by a terrible one, the French are in a coma and only Spain performed at a high level for the majority of their match.

TBH switzerland are a competent team, but just competent so a draw in opening game is never a disaster. Brazil group now hinges on a game between brazil and serbia. that will be a close game from what we saw in first round games. Serbia are function but not at all a poor side.

I felt the french don't know what their best system or best 11 are. They have so many good players why can't make their mind up... and again one big ego in greizmann might spoil the whole thing.

France need to sit him down and say he is a left side forward and go do the job then play mbappe up the middle and build the team round that. Top players everywhere. weak manager, weak team spirit.

Agree. It’s def legit to question this teams backbone, right back to the bottled final at vs a Ronaldo-less Portugal. They don’t seem to have a clear identity and focused direction right now.

I think it stems from manager. Theres huge talent in the squad. they didn't look like a team to me on the pitch. just looked confused.

Actually thought Spain looked the best. Portugal should have lost that game

Germany will easily bounce back against Skorea and Sweden. Both look very average teams. Both without any pace and not wanting to counter attack, play right into the Germans hands

England winning against Tunisia is very important, otherwise, one of the outsiders can win the world cup.

so the swedes beat the koreans.

This puts germany in a bit of a bind as 6 points is possible for two teams in the group now besides them.

Germany must beat sweden. this is the second game for each inthe group and mexico play S.korea

It could be that germany are in second place on 3 points after round two then need a point v s Korea to progress... the 2 wins could get top spot but I think they could be in second after today's show
