Got a free ticket to go to Hull last night.

    Generally enjoyed it.

All my rugby mates say how great the atmosphere is compared to City. But I found the atmosphere just as bad as City.

Adam Pearson showing the Allams how to run a successful club - 13k there yesterday, compared the 12k the Allams manage to attract - turning into a rugby city thanks to two useless ****s

Yes, but it was against the most successful well known rugby league club, the Real Madrid of rugby league, who will have brought a large following to tbe capital of rugby league for a game against the club whose fans think they are the biggest.

Fc play in the Super League, RL's equivalent of the Premier League, Wigan are one of the biggest and most successful clubs in it, a bit like us playing Manchester United at home. Fc are the current Challenge Cup Holders, meaning they have won some silverware recently, although they don't enter the competition until the 6th round.
I would have thought Pearson would have been disappointed with a gate of 13k when you take into consideration the opposition and the price of the tickets. Would we be disappointed with a gate of 13k against Manchester United ( or any club) if we were the current FA Cup holders playing in the Premier League ? I think it tells you that Hull is everything but a rugby league city. You would have thought with Hull being a rugby town and nothing on telly but two foreign teams playing a sport that is far inferior to rugby league, and that no-one in this area is interested in, you'd have thought the KC would have been sold out.

What I don't understand Phil is why you feel so threatened by Hull FC , just ignore them and get on with supporting Hull City

Its a long story mate. I was answering a post claiming that Pearson knows what he is doing by getting a crowd of 13k in for rugby. We are forever being told that Hull is a rugby town and I was simply pointing out that IMO I think it is anything but. Judge Rinder finds my reply sad but doesn't comment on the first claim, which I find is odd.

Rugby League is a minority sport, comparing it to the Premier League is ridiculous, as is comparing Man United with Wigan Warriors.

It's bollocks anyway, they got almost the same crowd against Castleford, who are hardly a Super League Goliath.

We'll get smaller crowds than them next season, despite playing the most popular game in the world in a city with only one professional team and posts like yours are an open invitation for a piss-take.

It is local commentators who go on about the Hull rugby derby being like Rangers v Celtic, Liverpool v Everton and Milan v Inter.

I know all that, most sensible people do. The point is rugby league isn't considered a minority sport in this city. We will probably get smaller crowds next season then them too and we all know why but the that will be overlooked and we will get this 'Hull is a rugby town' rubbish pushed down out throats again in the local media.
We were the subject of the piss-takers for many years when we at the bottom of the football ladder and the two rugby league clubs were at the top of their tiny sport, but the comparisons were always that FC in particular were 'world giants' HKR were called 'the Man Utd of rugby league' The Hull derby was on par with the big city Premier League derbies. They never compare like for like, it is always rugby league v football and football never came out of any comparison in a good light. When we finally reached the Premier League and filled the KC we were told that the crowds only come to watch the opposition.
Perhaps it doesn't bother some people but it does me. I was a minor sponsor at city when we were 5hite and I was tapped up by FC to sponsor them. That is the reality, they are the competition like it or not.
