Tbh having watched this **** now..... England might get Germany in at if Germany can recover and win their group. England right now are second favourites in the group. Finish second and it might be Poland in last 16 and Germany or Mexico in quarters.
Panama and Tunisia?.... If England cannot beat those no hopes they deserve nothing. Not getting out of group would be catastrophically bad. As I said a last 16 has no big team waiting at all either so again while England are **** and not a team really thry should have at least a decent chance of getting through. I half expect tomorrow to be a **** show with Kane thinking he is it and not playing for team but taking all the throws even. Having seen Germany.... my god they look shot. But they need to win group and England finishing 2nd in group for the teams to meet. That Mexico team was relatively weak up top but ran Germany off park. I can see England beating that German side but losing to Mexico.
Alot depends on Harry for England, they are not good enough individually to have a good run, so if arry decides he's the superstar and goes all gung ho by himself, I think it will all go tits up. There only chance is sticking together as a unit. England thinking their better than they are, has been one of our biggest issues.
Said it before, No Clear favourites. Even the big nations have something wrong with their squads and the smaller nations are much improved. Genuinely think the days of really **** teams making the finals are long gone. More smaller nations have woken up to the idea of moving their best players aboard and some at young ages in order to reap the benefits of youth development programmes in countries like Portugal or Holland. Have been surprised by how open and attacking most games have been. More teams wanting to win rather than trying to avoid losing.
This is true, being very much underestimated by most. We should be winning but it won't be a walk over like some seem to think. Especially since England don't have anyone that can control a game
Weird opening round so far. Of all the. If teams you’d expect to be rolling the group, only France have won and that was a sketchy victory. Maybe it is englands year after all
Out of the big four, Spain look the best, but had the toughest opponent. Germany looked the worst. Brazil had a good half and terrible half.
Spain has been the best team for me and if they play like they did against Portugal, then they should sail through the group, as there is only one Ronaldo in the tournament. Mexico produced the best result and performance of the tournament so far for turning a talented German side into a dad's army. Pity they don't have any top strikers otherwise I'd make them dark horses to win.
Funny how people are calling the Spain v Portugal game really good, it actually wasn't. Spain was dominant throughout and barring a virtuoso performance from Ronaldo, Portugal looked ordinary. Spain clearly the best so far and I'd expect them to get into the finals.
Its a question of who has their **** together for me. Now... its not impossible across the group stage to get that **** together if you can but.... 1. France: look a bunch of individuals. manager has no clue who is the central focus. Team isn't playing as a team. Pretty shocking to be honest. 2. Brazil. Falling into the star trap already. Neymar had no business on that pitch for more than 60mins. everything went towards him. 3. Germany. look slow. 4. Argentina- messi or nothing. 5. Spain. CB issues imo. Pepe is a disaster zone for them. theres a lot of work for these "favourites" to justify themselves. I am sure they can pull it together but they have to be the best team not the best collection of stars
I've only watched 3 full games and a few bits here and there. I think it's been quite good for an international tournament, to be honest. My expectations are generally low.
You sure about Spain or is that about Portugal? Think Ramos and pique are great but they will be exposed to pace and the counter attack as their midfield are dog slow and play so high up the pitch.
Two players from Denmark - Thomas Delaney and someone called Braithwaite. What the **** is that all about?
