I first heard this when the rugby regions were formed. Substitute "The scarlets must stand alone" for England
I have the opposite view, much prefer club football although I did enjoy the Spain/Portugal game. Who wouldn't? Alos the tension wondering whether Iceland would hold out against Argentina. The rest of the games have been crap so far.
Whats your opinion on Var, for me it just simply isn't working and this not flagging offsides if it is close is a joke, I hope this doesn't creep into all football, it is going to spoil it. That's 3 minutes of stoppages in injury time it is a joke
Belgium vs. Panama (4pm, BBC Monday 18th June) Looking forward to this one, just to see if Martinez still has the 'Midas touch' if I see the Swansalona style, I will be supporting Belgium all the way!! Come on Bobby brown shoes, do it on the biggest stage in the world...........
I'm loving VAR - I'm not expecting every decision to be correct, but certainly a good 90% correct. I love the not flagging the offside unless it's obvious. I thought that was the rule anyway - to give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker. I feel it's improved the game no end. When the ref ran over to the screen in the Argentina/Iceland game to have a look at a replay I felt we're finally moving forward in the sport. I'm also confident now that scummy divers (Dele Alli etc) will be found out.
Mexico should have been out of sight. They'll be gutted if they don't win this........ Edit : WELL DONE MEXICO !!! Fantastic game - really exciting.
That renowned diver Victor Moses got away with it time and again last night, he should have at least had a yellow. So I’m not convinced it will weed out the divers.
