Worcs, Kent and Yorkshire. A little bit different to Chelsea, Man Utd and Spurs. Thanks to getting Yorks in the SF, when they have half their team missing, rather than the final, we have a massive opportunity here. Tough to call a favourite between the four - but the fact that the likes of Vince, Dawson and Wood are vastly experienced in winning KO matches has to play in our favour.
England Ladies win by 7 wickets to win ODI series against South Africa 2-1. Tammy Beaumont scored 105 and Heather Knight 80.
Hants are mirroring Saints atm, a chance of winning a cup but flirting dangerously with relegation in the league....
Indeed Solent have pretty much confirmed that Northeast will play on Monday btw. If Alsop doesn't recover in time (it was injury that saw him miss the Surrey thrashing), then it's a simple swap. If he does, he possibly misses out anyway - it'll be between him and Taylor I imagine. (I think Alsop might just keep his place, because (a) he scored 95 last time out, and (b) it would save needing to move Vince from no.3).
Australia v England ODI just started. England won the first one. Owen Morgan withdrawn at last minute due to a back spasm when he got up from a chair.
England 112-1 after 18 overs. Conditions miserable in Cardiff. I know that weather well....the rain too lazy to fall to the ground...just hovers in your face. Hope it goes away...otherwise my lazy sofa session is under threat.
England win by 38 runs. An England fielder failed to move to catch a ball that landed near him and went for four. Of course the advert behind him had to be for Specsavers
The England innings was the first in the history of ODI’s that the first 5 wickets went for partnerships of 50 or more. Not bad!
Kent v Hampshire or Yorkshire in the final then. Worcestershire's decision to bat first was ludicrous.
Chandimal (Sri Lanka) has been charged with ball tampering....the incident that caused the on-off situation in the Test yesterday. Must be quite obvious...can't see Umpires wanting to change the ball for something that looks like normal wear.
Bat first or second, this Worcs team are poor. All they have is Ferguson and Clarke (and Moeen when available). Kent should always be winning this - just like us/Yorks should always be winning the final, if Worcs were to make it. Not quite sure how they keep in progressing through the North group in both white ball formats. Poor side, who easily get put away in the KO stages.
Well Northeast is indeed back tomorrow. But Alsop, Taylor and Crane are all injured! I guess it solves two problems: (1) who drops out for Northeast, and (2) who to leave out between Topley, Wood, Steyn. In the case the latter, all three of them surely now play. The only decision left is whether we go with Adams or Holland. I suspect we'll go with Jimmy, and play just the five bowlers - partly because Holland hasn't played a single minute of first team action this season, because of his injury (and besides, five seamers, plus Dawson, would seem a little excessive). But I don't think it's certain.
