Good player he is but do we need another player susceptible to injury? Maybe the economics of the situation appeal to Levy?

Didn't Leicester reject him? And can a mod change the title to 'Hargreaves' instead of 'Owen'? I thought it was Michael Owen... <doh>

Changed myself, apologies as pasted the title SkySports gave. I'd be surprised if Leicester turned down the chance to sign him if his wages he requested were reasonable.

P.s. Oh seems only get chance to edit for small space of time, can't seem to amend now to add the word 'move' at end.

If by some miracle he was now fit, would be a fantastic signing. The football world can go **** itself!

We would have to be very sure of his fitness. You only get a 25 man squad, and we don't need any more passengers in it.

I imagine Woodgate would feel a bit pissed off too if we signed him.

Woody was offered PAYP, and turned it down. I can't imagine that Hargreaves would be offered anything different, given his injury record.

I'm not sure if that is true, if you listen at the beginning here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14174796.stm

Does he mean no contract was offered? Or what he regards as a standard form of it, a non PAYP deal?

Good point. I've no idea TBH. I do, however, remember Harry saying quite clearly that he had been offered PAYP, and had turned it down.

If Woodgate did refuse a PAYP deal here then it's slightly odd as I believe he's on such a deal now at Stoke. Hargreaves would be a reasonable bet for me on a 1 year PAYP deal. If we can keep him fit then he could be a great player for us.

I thought the reason United didn't extend his contract was because he wouldn't accept a pay as you play deal? Would be a great signing for you but ONLY as a pay as you play. Really hope he returns to form as I would love to see him play for England again, but think it's just wishful thinking...

Forget the type of deal imo, its a waste of a valuable squad space.

Btw, Woody has managed 90 mins for Stoke 3 times already.

I don't think we 'manage' injuries very well at all, so he's the last bloke that should come here.

Can't lose if it's a pay as you play deal. We'll only spend about 60k over the course of the season :emoticon-0110-tongu

You can certainly lose if he's occupying a valuable squad place, and is unfit to play most of the time.

Then we'll take him out the squad in Jan. With (presumably/ expectedly) some of the squad being shifted out, that'll free up a few spaces and with the sign of no imminent signings, putting him in the squad won't really affect anyone else's chances as it will only be U-21 players we'll have as back up. Don't get me wrong I don't really want him, would rather have Parker or Diarra, but on a free and on a PAYP deal, don't see much of a risk.

NSIS, thank you for understanding my post.

Ens, i wasn't using Woody as a 'deal' example, it was our inability to assess him as good enough for three 90 min games already...like Stoke have. Our injury management is appalling imo, we are the last club to get the best out of sicknotes.
