I would happily pay 35 million for this guy. From what i've seen he has pace, vision, and knows how to play a good ball. Sounds like a mixture of Fabregas and Nasri. Plus he plays in the tough Bundesliga, so it wouldn't take him long to settle if we signed him. I know 35 million for a 19 year old is quite a lot, but it would be money well spent. After all, we did sign OXO for 15+ million, and Gotze is double the player that Chamberlain is.
Quality. Should sign him and Hazard, and you won't miss Fabregas/Nasri still playing for your team. But i doubt you'd sign both, £55/60million on two players?
Thought we'd had a bid rejected... seems like a great player but a deal is unlikely. Still... I could be wrong.
But we need a good signing, look at liverpool, they've spent a fortune on average players, and they're far better than last season, we should splash the cash for once, we should have roughly 80 million available (lets assume arsene was given 40 million to start with, plus the money from cesc and nasri) so lets use some of it. Sod the wage bill, we're too big a club to end up in financial crisis, especially with wenger as manager.
I have read that senior figures in the german FA believe that Gotze will be world class in a couple of years. He's already brilliant now, if they're correct, it would be wise to sign him now, than wait until his price skyrockets further.
Also, on the issue of him being 19, i have watched him play, and with certainty, i can say he doesn't play like a 19 year old. He plays like someone who's been at it for years.
from the games i've seen, he isn't as dynamic as Ozil, but he is a better passer, with great vision. He had 15 assists last season, a good number. Also scored 8 goals. Ozil had over 20 assists, but plays in a weaker league, for a far better team.
Ozil had 18 assists last season, In la liga alone i think. But if he's that good, then obviously you should sign him.
I would have said Dortmund wouldn't sell Sahin and Gotze in the same season, but as Cowboys From Hell said we sold Fabregas and Nasri in the same season, so anything is possible. I would like for Arsene to, just once, splash the cash on a player and send a message out that we mean business again. If Villa can spend 20 odd million on Bent then surely we can spend 30 million on Gotze.
