I don't understand why it's a shame that Ronaldo scored a hattrick. He's an odious person but almost definitely the best footballer in the world.

Had to record the France game. Watching the first half now. 24 minutes on. I love the look of the French squad, but I am already sick to death of every one of their players diving and play acting. Pathetic. Think there had been about 3 actual fouls on the French team. All the rest are just normal contact in a football game.

That’s not a Penalty. First VAR decision, and it’s wrong. It’s not s clear and obvious error, for starters. Then as whether it’s a pen or not. Really don’t think that is one.

I thought France looked lazy, the players just strutted around the pitch. Very lucky to come away with 3 points, Australia played well and deserved something from the game.

Quite right about all the rolling around, didn’t expect that from the French but they were terrible, going down under the slightest bit of contact!

He is a good footballer when he's not diving and simulating to the ref to book players.

They were pretty dire and unimpressive for sure. I was expecting far better from them; something in the region of 3-0.
Games like this make me fear England games more, as we all know how bad they can be on their day <laugh>

The french LB was terrible for it!

The commentator made the comment that they were like Man Utd. All the talent, but nobody wanted to try, and nothing really gelled.

I had to laugh at one piece of commentary when a French player went down with no contact and proceeded to roll around and the commentator said he must have a dislocated shoelace <laugh>

France were so lucky, I think Australia looked so good. I was really surprised. They were very dogged and put everything into it. Didn't leave the French team alone for a minute.

Messi for Argentina....Oh dear....<doh> Iceland, again, I thought were fantastic and well worth a point.

A bit of a worry how strong and committed the smaller "underdog" teams look. Iran, Australia, Iceland. All worked so hard and were so hard to break down. If we get that from Tunisia. It's going to be a long, hard game.

Edit: What a Penalty miss. 2 in a row in this world cup!

Right. Had to stay off sports news until I had caught up with the recorded games. Now up to date.

How tight is this World Cup?! The class teams, are even struggling to beat, and score against "Minnows".

Brazil result was a shock. Sweden only just beat South Korea, because of a Pen, despite looking in control.

I'm excited about our World Cup starting tonight, but a little nervous. Teams seem to be so hard to break down (apart from Saudi Arabia).

Panama are looking up for a fight today so far. They are chasing the ankles of the Belgium players. I'm sure they will tire soon, and then could be any score. Lets hope Belgium wear them out for us.

Really impressed by Panama first half. I can see this kind of game for us tonight, and on Sunday against these guys.

    Wow.

It was either going to be a Penalty, or a stunner. Better that it took a stunner. Poor Panama, they have fought fantastically.

Picking up a lot of yellows as well though. Does 2 yellows in 2 group games mean you miss the third?

If so, will they pull out of tackles against us? It might be their only world cup. Play 2 World Cup games in your life, or 3? Might play on their minds.
