Just to keep things in perspective, you can see the current play of transfers at Transfermarkt.

From their stats, it looks like Huddersfield have been the most active signing 5 players for a combined £30.6m whilst Liverpool have spent the most at £99.0m for 2 players.

 

So did I....a case of great minds think alike....or fools rarely differ?

Let's face it...we could just make up names really.

 

Be interesting to see if we want to keep Matty or are pitching his price too high. I would think he is worth keeping...especially as we can't afford to replace every player. Concentrate our money in other areas. He's still young and has gained some valuable experience on loan.

 

The logic of this otherwise flawless post falls at this first hurdle!

Yep we are turning into West Ham with leaking players names to the press to get everyone excited before signing the Saudi back 4 on deadline day.

 

Really happy about this, I hope that he gets back to his pre-injury International form with them.

 

After the opening game, of course. He should get a good reception from the fans. He was a very good player for us pre-injury. One of my favourite players of the horrible hankie sleeves team. He will 'ave t'advantage of being understood in interviews in Burnley an' all!

 

Yes, I selected him for my Liebherr era XI, he was on fire that particular season, thanks to Rickie's assists also.

 

Shouldn't have let him go. We put too much reliance on Austin....willing and a decent player for us...but never going to be fit all season. Perhaps Saints thought JRod was one step away from another injury.

 

Do we leak names? Seems to me that all leaks come from the foreign clubs and/or agents.

 

We did in January; in what was clearly a leak from the club, Jeremy Wilson published a list of players we were said to be hot on the heels of...it included Theo Walcott (who we made no effort to sign), Cenk Tosun (who had already agreed to join Everton), Alfie Mawson, and Ryan Sessegnon:

Wilson later posted that we were chasing James Maddison for a summer deal. All of those players will end up changing teams, but we don't appear to have actually made an approach for any of them.

If the club were clever (I know, I know), they’d make a serious effort to sign someone prior to the season ticket renewal deadline.

 

I'm genuinely shocked that they seem to want to wait until next month. I assumed we'd try to complete a transfer early, even if we were planning to do sweet fk all else, just to get the fans back on side and sell some tickets. I guess they're counting on Hughes getting fans so excited that they expect they've already won over the doubters.

 

Strangely I want them to get players in when they can and for the right reasons....not to push a few season tickets. Everyone planning to buy a ST is planning to buy one....to have any serious effect on numbers the club would have to sign half a new squad. One player wouldn't tip anyone over the edge.

 

You are all assuming we are waiting because of players in the World Cup. You’ve failed to realise we are signing half the Dutch and half the Italian national teams, as their players aren’t away at the tournament. *


*neither are Scotland, Malta or San Marino and we may be looking there
