I do, you’re saying that a player needs to win a World Cup to be regarded as one of the greats, but I disagree. No one who saw George Best play would say he was a lesser player because he didn’t have a World Cup on his CV.
Yes, not by me personally, but by many people around the world. Check the comment I made earlier (#70) - I said if Messi was Spanish, he would have won the World Cup by now. It wouldn't actually make him a better player, however, it would persuade a lot of people that he is 'the greatest' etc. I'm not saying I agree with that, I'm just saying that's how it is. The argument started when SaintMagic argued Sergio Ramos shoud be considered the greatest defender of all time because he is the most decorated. But I said most-decorated doesn't necessarily signify most-talented (basically what you are saying). Now, regarding Best, I'm saying that he is not regarded as highly internationally - by folks in the rest of the world (not Britain) - because he was unable to show off his talents at a World Cup. Again, I'm not saying that makes him a lesser player.
I agree about Messi. The thing is that football is universally televised nowadays, which wasn’t the case when Best was playing. If Best was playing today his genius would be seen week in week out around the world, just like Messi’s is, and few would argue that he is up there with the Argentinian maestro. And while he never played in a World Cup, he did win the European Cup in 1968, a match which would have been viewed around the world. Anyway, 2-0 to Russia.
No in tight calls they're told to keep it down and VAR will then rule it out if it was offside. Makes sense really.
Surely the 2-yellow card suspension has got to go up to 3. Players get booked for farting these days.
