Arsenal sign Andre Santos

I've just seen this rumour on Twitter
It's being reported by Duncan Castles of the Sunday Times

 

I wouldn't believe it. If i wanted to, i could go on wikipedia now and say Lionel Messi had just signed for us.

 

Just looked up Wiki and it says nothing about us on his bio page. I'm betting GoonerC's two-year old grandson must have stayed up late

 

Gabriele Marcotti now reporting the story about Santos

 

According to Arsenal Action all the major TV channels in Turkey are saying that the deal is agreed and he is on his way to London.

A good signing in my opinion.
He is excellent going forward, his crossing is great and he has a powerful shot and isn't shy of taking long range shots.

Played the majority of his games as left-back at Fenerbache and scored 10 goals in 2 years, which is impressive.

However he is bit weak defensively, so probably another Clichy but someone who can actually cross or take shots.

Technical abilities are fantastic.

 

From what i've just been reading his strengths are his defending.To use the cliche,he's a no nonsense defender

Great, here come more soft red cards. I have no doubt of his ability (you have to be good to get 20 caps for brazil) but if he's a rugged defender, i feel a lot of soft penaltys being given away.

 

Thats not too bad for a left back.

 

The link does say he's an attacking fullback, good on passing, dribbling etc but cite positioning and marking among his weaknesses. I do like the contribution fullbacks make to the attacking force but I think a solid backline is top priority in respect of our defensive strategy. Oh I almost forgot, we don't have one

Put simply, he's currently far better than any other left back we have, so what if his defending is suspect. He can't be any worse than we were yesterday.

Yep, according to my twitter a reliable source YOU have signed this player.. reports he's two footed and so could play either side, has also played midfield and looked at home.. seem's a good buy for Arsenal. Hope this helps

If you want us to have a defensive LB, why not move the Verminator out left, and sign a new centreback?
