Should singing blue have tried harder at school? Typical skate, can't even organise a one sentence windup properly, can barely fill out a JSA form.
"World would now only be one season wonders, as they can simply not afford nor attract the talent necessary to stay in the Premier League?" 1-Nicola Cortese 2-£3bn
It's a difficult juggling act..spending enough to push for promotion, whilst having enough in reserve to compete in the Prem. No point in saving money if you don't get there. No point in signing players who aren't Championship/Prem standard. Just glad we have Cortese and Adkins.
I personally think it was quite a reasonable question to ask, and the fact that he's a skate doesn't change that fact at all! I see no malice or taunting in his post, and it doesn't deserve the bashing it's getting! Besides, at least he's acknowledged the reality that we're closer to the Prem than they are
It's interesting. With the funds available from promotion, and the steading Markus gave us; we should be looking to invest in other commercial interests, due to the somewhat volatile nature of football finances. PFC (currently operating as a football club) could feasibly be acquired and re-positioned as a fish canning business, there are a numerous of key socio-greopahical factors which make this a pragamatic (if un-glamorous) viable business option.
I will treat the question with respect Out of our current squad and on form I think Cork & Lallana would get into most lower level Premier league sides now. Connolly & Davies have good premier league experience and could still cope at that level. Fox has played at that level recently and although we've not seen much of him as a Southampton player i'm sure he was bought with an eye on the next level. Fonte has not played in the premier league, but out of our players not too would be the most likely to cope at this stage. Schneiderlin & De Ridder have the potential and time to step up to the next level too. As for the rest they have yet to perform consistently at Championship level, let alone the Premier league, but recent results have proven they're not out of their depth now. If by some miracle we get promoted this season then I think we'll be 6 or 7 players away from a competitive Premier league squad, but we have two days, a January window and next summer to sort that out
I think it is a quite reasonable debate, would your owners stump up the cash i.e. multi millions or not? Our owners say they will,to pursue a return to the Premiership, do you care to discuss or just continue to 'believe' in Cortese's (and Wally Adkins) dream?.................
Ok guys and girls....I can understand that some of you are doing to SB3 what perhaps he has done to you in the past......However when he does ask a genuine and for him a good question.....maybe that is what we should be concentrating on. When he behaves maybe we should give the guy a chance.......when he doesn't maybe that is the time to crucify him! Getting back to the original question........Are Saints ready.....Who knows I would like to say yes but truly the question for me is a little early to make a realistic reply.......When we are guaranteed that place in the premier realistically that will be the only time I at least will be able to answer that with any conviction.
We are led to believe just as you are that should funds be necessary they will be made available our owners are rich enough. Of that there can be no doubt and going by what has been said in the past all that was promised has so far been achieved. There is very little more to discuss beyond that this early in the season for me.
Tw@t! Any Mod that tells me to mind my language can keep that to themselves! This moron is on every forum and does nothing but try and p*as ppl off! Ban him!!
We have spent around £4 million on 3 players and if rumours are to be believed have made bids of over £3 million on four different strikers (Sharp/Maynard/Rodriguez/Beckford). So looks like we're prepared to spend more. Our owner is therefore walking the walk
Well let's be honest, we might not be ready for the Prem - but that's still 10 x more ready than you're ever going to be under Coterill!
Mate I am not defending him.....I am just trying to be even handed.....as I try to be at all times. Don't always succeed but I do try. Please see my pm. BT
