Teams will be more aware, the pressure on Salah, will be expected to get as many if not more.

You would think teams would have become more aware at some point last season <whistle>

I don't think there will be an expectation for Salah to score more next season. We will score loads again but it will be across several players

The ability to put away a high percentage of the chances you get - with calmness and assuredness. Sterling's conversion rate is fairly low.
He's a good player, but there are a number of more efficient goalscorers in the PL alone - never mind at the World Cup.
He'll get his share of goals in a high-scoring team, but how many chances are England going to create for him?

In any case, 'Arry will claim everything.

The stats for last season make your perception plain wrong I’m afraid mate.

It was widely reported and spoken about by Sterling himself, that Pep had spent a lot of time with him in training working on his shooting, and he’d helped change the way Sterling actually struck the ball.

The stats clearly show that this worked, and Sterling’s conversion rate ended up being the 5th best in the division last season at 21.5%. By comparison he was only 2% behind Salah, who headed the chart.

Thought i'd put this through the test (as the eye test suggests sterling misses loads of sitters and i was surprised earlier in the season when i compiled something similar).

These are stats compiled from the premier league site (no idea how they calculate their chances/big chances etc).

    upload_2018-6-13_12-14-16.png

Basically, maybe its confirmation bias in what we see but Sterling doesn't miss as many big chances as we believe (according to PLs stats).

He's got a pretty good chance to conversion rate (see list order) and his goals to big chances missed isn't actually too bad (ranks half way and above salah).

Sanchez has obviously shown he's been dog **** in terms of his finishing as has our star striker.

Not sure exactly but didn't he used to get like 15 when he played for us.

An increase of 5 is not exactly something to shout about if that's what you have concentrated on in training with him and the class of players who provide him.

I reckon aspas could probably get same in the city team.

His shots on target ratio is behind Salah, Kane, Aguero and several others, so his shooting may have improved but it still isn't that great. Of his shots that were on target his conversion ratio is comparatively favourable, but this is where stats give an incomplete picture - you'd have to see how many were easy tap-ins or easy saves or whatever. The quality of goals scored is a measure of whether or not someone is a "natural finisher", and there's an element of subjectivity to that.
I think he's a better creator than a finisher, and I can't see him getting too many in a team that doesn't make a lot of chances.
Not enough to make him worth a punt on the Golden Boot anyway, given the company he'll be in.

The conversion rate is his total goals to shots ratio, not percentage of shots on target that went in.

Great strikers always have plenty of tap ins, as they’ve got the knack of being in the right place at the right time. It goes with the territory. A striker who scores a bagful of spectacular goals in a season is much more likely to struggle to repeat that feat in another one.

Sterlings finishing did improve significantly last season imo, and whilst I’d not back him for the golden boot either, as he’s essentially a winger, I’d back him to consistently score a more than respectable amount of goals season in, season out.

I think it's more about the types of chances he misses rather than volume

agreed, i thought the same, but if you look at his big chance misses (maybe they don't add in the ones where he misses the ball completely who knows), he doesn't actually miss as many as people think. In fact he's quite comparible to other players and is middling. Even Salah falls behind him
