    http://www.wearewearside.com/articl...what-underlands-new-home-strip-will-look-like

Allegedly, Sunderland's 2018-19 home strip will feature no black in it at all and the shorts will be red. With no sign yet of the new red-and-white shirt for the League One campaign, fans are beginning to wonder when the new kit will be unveiled.

The Black Cats current deal with Adidas runs to the season after next, but the strip manufacturer has some impressing to do this season after last term's Sunderland home shirt proved an unpopular affair. The thin red-and-white stripes and large red back panel went down like a lead balloon and the 2017-18 kit will forever be associated with a dismal double-drop relegation.

The absence of any black in the kit for the new term is notable given that Sunderland strips almost always contain notable black elements. Indeed, there's only been about six seasons in the club's history in which black shorts have not been worn. And the home strip almost always contains some black features, be it on the collar or the cuffs, a black stripe somewhere on the shirt, or black elements on the socks.

Watford unveiled a striped Adidas shirt earlier this week and we reckon Sunderland's could be a similar design, though possibly with a crew-neck collar rather than the 'v'-neck as seen on this Hornets design.

    —————————

Hope that’s bullshit about the shorts mind. Traditionally black always. Want them black this season too

Yeah red shorts wouldn't work. God knows why it would be under consideration, feels like Adidas are trolling us somewhat.

Just want to go back to the traditional red and white stripes with the black shorts. I want our identity back as a club. We should dictate to the sports wear manufacturers what we want and not them.....last season strip was to me symbolic of everything that was wrong with the club. Give the fans the strip back.....and have a team on the pitch that will be proud to wear it!

Would love red shorts for a year.

Something a bit different. I love how loose Southampton are with their kit over the last few years

    Simply red and white

‘Adidas have some impressing to do’ is the most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen.

‘Close the ****ing doors lads we ****ed it with that Sunderland kit....’

I ****ing love Adidas, it was woeful, but I only buy the training gear anyway and that has been quality season on season.

We will not be renewed I’m hoping if we lose Adidas we don’t end up with ****e like Lonsdale again. Most likely Umbro I’d wager.

The Peru 1970 Red and White would give a nice Retro look to it.

Hummel mate, Hummel. Bet SD would listen. They've made the best kits we've ever had. And I still love their effort for other teams. Danmark's for this worldcup looks handsome. Expecting Boro's to look class after the teaser.

Always get a little foggy with how shirt manufacturers do this but if it was me I'd be demanding a massive amount of control over the design or I'd be bringing it in house. No idea why we shackle ourselves to naff strips the way we have for decades. An example of clubs thinking within the coffin that's suffocating them.

In my mind the best thing they could do is approach a manufacturer who sorely need a foothold in the industry and help them get in... Make a really cool kit and make a **** load of noise about the launch... PR heaven on both sides. Are you listening... Lacoste?

The **** they do is ****ing mega. Would be massively marketable. I'd love to see some clever **** start designing shirts that are more than just a football shirt. The money they'd make would be silly.
