It's like they want to be a mess...

He's leaving for Real after the World Cup, why sack him the day before the WC starts, and 2 days before they play Portugal? Unless there's been a rift at the training camp a la France in 2010...

Reports that Spanish FA could sack Lopetegui on the eve of the World Cup for the "betrayal" of taking the Real Madrid job.

They'd have to be completely mental to do this.

It might work in their favour, like when Denmark turned up from their holidays in the Euros 92 and won it. The players are good enough to make up for it. From what they are saying it will cause too much discord in the camp so I can see why they would do it. Not sure what the plan for a new manager to come in for the tournament would be but I bet there's a few big names would fancy being a hero.

Difference being the World Cup starts tomorrow. Spain's first game is Friday which is a big one against Portugal.

That's way too short notice to change it up for something so major.

They're unlikely to bring anyone in, if they sack him, his No.2 will take over.

Up to 207 football federations are about to vote in Moscow, to decide who'll host the 2026 World Cup.

Been told Lopetegui situation remained “unchanged” and he “is definitely staying on until end of World Cup”...

At least Mexico is a footballing nation.

The USA hosting it twice since we've had it is way more ridiculous.

Both (plus Canada) are better than Morocco hosting it. That's a Russia-Qatar-esque choice at the moment.

It looks like a player revolt, led by Ramos, has prevented the Spanish FA from sacking the manager.

Might be the drug money from Mexico that swings it.

Speaking of drug money, Mexico wasn't originally meant to host in 1986, Colombia was.

The Russia one doesn't bother me as much as Qatar, but it still seemed pretty dodgy.

It was also up against bids from Spain/Portugal, Belgium/Netherlands and England, which as a result made it the least appealing one to host IMO. (Spain/Portugal was definitely the best choice of the four IMO)

    Yes i remember.
Had it taken off them and USA and Mexico both wanted it .
All FIFA members where told to vote for Mexico by the fifa president.
    I wonder why ????
Looks like the 2030 world cup will be Uruguay/Argentina.
Don't both constantly struggle with economic problems and runaway interest rates ?

Colombia didn't have it 'taken' from them, they told FIFA they were ****ed and wouldn't be able to host it.

Uruguay-Argentina-Paraguay is the only bid that has been confirmed for 2030 so far, the only other rumoured bid out there is England or a possible UK bid, and that's not even official.

The idea of Uruguay being one of the hosts in 2030 kind of makes sense, as they hosted the first one 100 years prior. The fact they are involved in a bid is of no surprise.

It's going to become more common to get joint hosts as the tournament costs too much for one single country.

Sentimentality it makes sense but financially they will defo struggle.
    Will need complete new stadiums.
Had a quick skeg and by the time it comes around they have only 2 stadiums between them that are anywhere near.
